VS holden 1996 V8 Took battery out months ago. As car was sitting idle. Charged it up on charger, now I've put it in& alarm(factory fitted) siren not horn keeps screaming. The alarm has always been switched off as I lost the key for it years ago. The battery in the key also went flat years ago & never had any problems. Can someone please tell me what to do?

Change the battery in the key and use the key to turn off alarm.

There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that addresses intermittent alarm self-activation. It involves replacing a small rubber bumper under the hood.

See your local Hyundai dealer and ask them about Bulletin Number 09-BE-026.

Those cars have a frequency sensor that is attuned to the exact sound frequency of breaking glass. Are there any noises nearby that resemble glass shattering? Wind chimes? Any type of extraneous noise at the freq of glass breakage will set off the alarm.

Is the a 12v power adaptor for the Yale easy fit siren EF-BX unit that can be fitted to the siren instead of the batteries ???

Because your system is designed to operate off of batteries only, coming up with an external power supply to work around the original design becomes an issue. In order to do what you want to do you would have to have a rechargeable battery maintained by an appropriate charger that would run the system from the charger/supply, charge the backup battery and switchover to the battery in the event of a power failure. These do exist and one manufacturer is Altronix but there are several, you just have to visit a DIY alarm website and get recommendations bearing in mind the battery voltage your system is designed for and the amp hour rating necessary to keep the system running the duration of the power outage and beyond. Keep in mind the reason for your alarm system is security and compromising that with homemade non-UL retrofits might not be the way to go, your choice.

Alarm goes off even after unlocking with remote

If the alarm has a siren with a backup battery, then check the condition of the siren battery. Is it drawing a large charge (drop in amps from the battery. Run a parasitic drain test). If so, then the siren could be at fault.

Is the alarm fitted with a sonic motion detector? Looks like two tiny speakers in a unit fitted in the centre of the dash. If so, this unit could be faulty.

Many after market alarm systems by the way, tend to only last for a few short years before failing. Is this an aftermarket product or factory?

I have a 1996 Ford Taurus. Got a new battery (First I ever had to replace) after putting it in (same spec battery as the factory one I replaced) the Car alarm makes the Lights flash for about 1-2 mins...

To disable the alarm you must go to the specialised ford garage. They will hawe all the codes and equipment to fix that. You may want to stay away fromunqualified guys. They will charge you for the job, but the problem can come out again.

most modern day car alarm systems started being factory fitted well over 10 years ago. The back up ni-cad battery inside the main siren will probably now be derelict and will cause many false alarms and immobiliser faults. In most cases, find out where the siren is tucked away( it will not be eady to get too because its a security device), and either replace the unit or ni-cads or just unplug it.
Always best to get car rescanned and clear dtc codes afterwards though too.
Note: keyfob batteries must be replaced annually on service date.

Have a 1996 Taurus wagon--dead battery--got brand new battery and connected it properly and car barely turns over and wont turn enough to start--car was sitting for about three months

Was the battery checked before it was sold to you? Batteries will lose their charge over a period of time even when not hooked up. If you have a voltmeter it should read 12.8 volts on a fully charged battery.
Have you tried to boost the car with cables?
I suspect if the car was working OK 3 months ago it should start. Which leads me to suggest an undercharged battery.
