08 XC90 cranks but won't start. After several hours it starts right up. Towed to dealer twice, started ok numerous times with no codes. Can't trust it. 3.2 6 cyl.

check the engine oil level sensor and the oil pressure sensor. this can sometimes be the problem. if the ecu does not read oil or pressure it wont start, and there is no codes. just oil light wont go out on turning engine over.(that's for oil level) oil pressure the engine on turnover pushes the oil up to the sensore when ecu reads pressure from the sensor it turns on the rest of the ignition circuit and engine will start.

My Korando 230(2002) indicated an oil light and 2minutes later the engine cut off. Upon inspection there was sufficient oil and water. No amount of jump starting turn engine. What could it be?

When you say "no amount of jump starting turn engine", do you mean the engine cranks but won't start, or it won't crank at all?

If it won't crank at all, then you need to check to be sure the engine isn't seized. Whenever the oil light comes on, it is an indication that there is low oil pressure to the engine...it has nothing to do directly with the AMOUNT of oil in the engine. The engine oil can be totally full, but if for some reason the engine loses oil pressure, there will be no lubrication to the main bearings. Two minutes of this condition will do irreparable damage to an engine. This may well be what happened to you.

My Ford f-150 started this morning but engine shut off with the check gauge indicator light on. Oil pressure is low, oil leaked onto driveway. Engine cranks but will not start. No smoke or burning sme

Tony,
don't run it with low oil pressure - you will damage the engine. WHere did the oil leak out? Is it staying in now? Not sure what you mean by "check gauge" - maybe check engine? If you can pull the codes from the ECU that may help. WHere is the oil level on the dip stick? reply via comment to the orignial question.

CAR NOT STARTING IF NO OIL IN CAR WHEN STARTING CAN MOTER SEIZE IN HONDA ACCORD

Hi I'm Peter. I'm not quite sure if you are asking if a car will start with no oil in the engine or if the engine was ran with out oil until it seized up. Is this an engine that was just put in? If it was rebuilt and installed was running then froze up I would suspect that the person who rebuilt the engine made a mistake somewhere causing the engine failure. If you are asking that if you drained all the oil out of an engine would it still start and run the answer is yes. There will be a residual oil on all the metal components that would allow the engine to run for a while but eventually it would heat up from friction and seize. If you ran the engine low on oil possibly from it leaking out somewhere and the engine will no longer start then you just seized the engine and it will need rebuilt if possible or replaced.

What happens ifi ran out of oil and my g35 infiniti 2003 wont start

Probably ruined engine. Add oil, jump off and crank engine. If totally locked up, its over. If engine will start there is a slight chance that the computer shut off the engine when the oil pressure dropped to save it. If engine has a deep knock then engine will need replacing.

The engine stopped while driving on 2003 Ford escape. Oil light, check engine light and the battery light came on

oil, check engine and battery will always be on when the engine is dead--because there's no oil pressure, nor battery charging. A faulty oil pressure sending would never prevent the engine from starting. You'll have to tow it to a shop to find out why

Low oil pressure no start

CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL ON OIL DIP STICK.OIL LEVEL SHOULD BE ON FULL MARK IF NOT ADD OIL UNTIL YOU GET TO FULL MARK.IF OIL LEVEL OKAY.YOUR LOW OIL PROBLEM CAUSED BY WORN DAMAGED OIL PUMP OR WORN ENGINE CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS.IF OIL HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED A LONG TIME CHANGE OIL AND OIL FILTER NOT GUARANTEE TO FIX PROBLEM.BUT COULD BE MINOR THING.OIL FILTER COULD BE STOPPED UP.WEAKEN OIL FLOW BUT LIKE I SAID PROBLEM COULD BE OIL PUMP OR ENGINE BEARINGS.REMOVE OIL SENDING UNIT SCREW IN A OIL PRESSURE GAUGE.TURN ENGINE OVER SEVERAL REVOLUTIONS TO SEE IF OIL PRESSURE BUILD UP TO 40 LBS. SEE 40 - 60 PSI. 2000 RPM.IF NO OIL PUMP TO WEAK .IF OIL PRESSURE RISES WHEN TURN ENGINE OVER.I HAVE SEEN FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SENDING KEEP ENGINE FROM RUNNING BECAUSE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT WILL DISABLE FUEL PUMP RELAY TO KEEP FROM DAMAGING THE ENGINE.

In some cases where the oil is not changed properly, the oil pump screen maybe plugging or your oil filter is defective. Fram is a good filter. If there is no problem found, replace the pressure sensor.

change the sensor...however, I bet you are using very thin oil or you oil pump is going bad.  Have the oil pressure tested.
