05 Ford Escape, coils #3 & #4 not firing. We've replaced the battery, spark plugs, alternator, coil packs, & pcm. Had pcm reflashed. Garage said it had to be coil packs, but just replaced coil packs 3

Check engine light on ? Code's ? What engine ? 2.3 l 4cylinder or 3.ol v-6 This vehicle has coil on plug ignition system , not coil packs ! a coil per cylinder . If new coils an still has no spark , has no B+ voltage to the coil or the PCM isn't controlling them . Without testing i'd only be guessing as to the problem .If the repair shop you had it to can only say it had to be the coils , I'd find another shop to take it to !

I want to do the tune up myself on my wife's 03' Galant and I'm not sure where to find the spark plugs and wires. I normally pay to have it done but would like to save some money this time by doing it...

I'm not sure what set up that car has or how many cylinders so there are a few options i'll give you to choose from. 1. If you have a four cylinder engine then your plugs and wires will probably be under the plastic cover thats bolted right on top of your engine, your oil cap will probably be coming up through it. Take that cover of and you will find two boxes with wires running from them. The boxes are your ignition coils and they sit right on top of your plugs, the wires from them are your spark plug wires and they run to your other plugs. Pull wires and coils off to access your plugs. This is the very easiest set up to change so consider yourself lucky if you have this. If not the right setup, read on. 2. If you have 1 or 2 coils supporting more than 4 cylinders you will have plug wires running to your coil packs. The wires will be easy to spot. They will be running from the top of your engine to a box and be plugged into that box. If you have six cylinder you will have six wires, eight cylinders eight wires. At the end of those wires on the top of your engine block you will find your spark plugs. 3. If you have an ignition coil for each cylinder then you will not have wires at all because the coils are attached directly to the plugs. I don't believe i have seen a car with this set up but if this happens to be your set up let me know & I can help you out. I hope that this has helped you out. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Did you by chance check the resistance of your plug wires? They have a tendency of breaking down over a period of time and need replaced. The spark plugs would have told you what was wrong with the engine many times.

I had the same problem with my 85 cj7 this week, I relpaced the ignition control module, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and the the coil; still had no fire to plugs. the problem turned out to be my distributor, replaced it today and she fired right up. Most likely it was the pick up module in the distributor that went bad.
