Question about 1995 Cadillac DeVille

3 Answers

I just bought a 1995 cadillac deville concours today. i was told it had"no mechanical problems, it runs excellent" hahaha jokes on me. i drive it less than 25 miles to the gas station and on my way my friend who was in the car was like turn the music down do you hear that. at that time stop engine came on the display. called the guy "oh its fine, its 14 years old some of the sensors are a little funny" tells me im ok to drive it. so i keep heading to the gas station and the car starts making this smacking noise on the left side, seems to be coming from around the acesory belt. it started getting bad quick. before i even make it 5 miles its so overpowering that i didnt even want to try to go over 35. i get to the gas station and it has overheated beyond belief, with no warning on the display that this was happening. we let it cool down, put oil in it and try to drive it home. 2 miles after leaving the gas station the cars acceleration and the noises completely change, went to a medium vibration and more of a low humming sound or growl almost and at this time it was impossible to get to 35. we parked it turned the car off open the hood and there is oil everywhere. we wiped what we could off and cranked it one time to see what area it was coming from. oil immediately started showering on the inside of my engine, batery and front bumper etc. it seems to be coming from in between the belt and the block right dead smack in the middle. can you please help me or give me a general idea of what it is i could be dealing with? thank you very much, justin

Well, I can tell you with certainty you got a lemon.....but know you could sue this person due to the "lemon law". Other than have a bad seal....sort of hard to say where....looking at a pic of the motor right now....could be several places in the front...but the main one would be where your harmonic balancer is and that is a pain to reseal....gotta pull the motor to pull the timing chain cover off and reseal the front seal.

1997 Cadillac Deville Concours Trunk will not close!

latch mechanism is probably motorized. Gently pushing the trunk lid down slides the lid/latch bar into the mechanism. this pushes a tab inside the motorized latch and the drive motor pulls the lid down tight and secure. you may be able to test the latch mechanism by sliding a pen or screwdriver into the latch groove to simulate the lid coming down. if you see the motor drive engage, and pull down the tool, you at least know this is working.
