Question about 1994 Volkswagen Jetta

1994 jetta 2.0 has trouble starting up

I had bought a jetta from a private buyer. It seemed to take a longer and longer time to start, so I thought it needed a tune up so I had a cap and router put in. It seemed to run worse so I followed up with a new wire set and new plugs. this made it run much better, but it is still having problems starting. i have to crank it over so many times that i killed the battery and so a new battery. i also replace the vacuum lines and a new air filter. it still have a hard time getting up and running. also had the fuel pump tested and the mechanic said that that was good. at a loss..

Your troubles could be coming from a dying starter. I would have it tested just to be on the safe side.

I need advice ASAP! My son bought a 2006 Envoy on Tuesday from a private party. We had it looked at by 2 different mechanics. The engine blew on Wednesday. Any ideas to help get money back?

You would have to sue in small claims court and you would have to prove that the seller knew that it was defective and did not disclose that at the time of sell. Most used cars are deemed by law to be where is as is and buyer beware.

There are several things that few people know about starting cars in cold weather. 1. Check your battery to make sure it is not rusted, leaking, and has a charge 2. Jump start your battery with another car, even if you believe the battery is good, this often times will still start your car. 3. If your engine is cold, and you have an older car, ensure to get your fuel lines to the engine flushed or have fuel injection service performed 4. The engine tends to warp the same way wood does during the extreme cold, do not be afraid to continue trying to warm up the engine by constant cranks with it is cold out. Your not going to hurt the car, the worse that could happen is too much fuel will enter the carborator and cause flooding in the system to occur. Wait 20 minutes if this happens and start to crank again 5. Bad spark plugs are a major reason why many cars take a very long time to start 6. Please have your spark plugs removed and exchanged for new ones. Over time, spark plugs become fowled and prevent the car from starting even thou you hear cranking!!!

1989 vw jetta wont crank. replaced battery still wont start.

There are a couple of possible answers, here...first check all cables and make sure they're clean and well connected. Follow the cable from the battery to the starter area...it should be connected to the selenoid. Again, make sure the connection is firm. Then check all fuses and replace any burned ones.

94 vw jetta would not start

94 Jettas have a anti-theft kill switch. It can mimik the starter or alternator. Lock all the doors with them closed, then unlock the drivers side with the key. Wait about two min then try cranking it. Should start up instantly, if not reset the computer.
