1996 chevy cavalier and 2001 chevy cavalier fuel pump interchageable

In the book a 96 model only fits 96-98 cars.
But the actual pump may be the same. You get an assembly including float and lines when you buy a new part.
You may be able to look at a new assembly for each year and tell if the actual pumps are the same style.

So I have a 2001 Chevy cavalier and I just hot it back from having the fuel pump replaced and now none of the gages work is there anything I can do to fix it

There is some sensors that they had to disconnect and other wires that they most likely removed to install fuel pump such as sensor that monitors fuel pump preside. Trace any and all line to the fuel pump to see if were hooked up, if so unplug and plug back in, possible not good connection. Let me know results. Thanks mike

Do fuel pumps usually go out in 2001 cavaliers. My cavalier has constantly stalled on me when the tank was low, this is due to the fuel pump being exposed and over heating right? Now my car wont start I'm...

Yes! Never run a car low in fuel! Now you will need to replace the fuel pump as well as the filter. But you can 'bump-start' the car by pouring a bit of gas down the intake. Do Not make this a cure!!

Car dont start, motor turns over, battery is new and it still dont start what could it be? car was working 2hrs before, fluids are all good.

I'd guess with a fuel pump. Check to see if it has fuel pressure. Or if you know how to spray it with a little carb spray and see if it runs for a few seconds. That will let you know if you aren't getting any fuel
