One of the door switches is bad. Try spraying wd4o into all the latches, sometimes this will free up the switches. It might take a couple of days. If it doesn't work you'll have to unhook one at a time to find out which one is bad.

I have a 1997 ford tauraus station wagon..It has 30,000 miles on it..Keep having problems with dome light staying on.The little red light stays on on the dash showing a door is ajar.Has been to dealer 3...

it sounds like a door switch is sticking, spray the dome light buttons at each door one at a time. and open and close the door a few times to see if one is sticking. if they are sticking then it should solve the problem. I suppose the dealer never mentioned this because they are out to rob everyone. you can use wd-40, electrical spray etc. spray switches good then open and close the doors. if this does not work, try to pull fuse. its worth a try!

The dome light does not turn off and the door ajar

the problem is door ajar switch located on one of the door latches just inside the door. what usually works is spraying wd40 or an electronic lubricant prayed liberally into the door latch and then opening and closing the door several times. the stuck switch is usually on the door that is the least used door like the passenger side rear. let us know how you make out.

Door lights and dome light stay on continously whether doors are closed, etc ? Only way I can get them to go off is unhook battery cable. please help me

Check the door switchsensors,
There is a little switch inside each door frame that registers if you closed the door.
That activates the dome light etc,
one of them is probably not working proper and i am guessing its the the one on the drivers side.
Push it a few times hard in and out....to see if anything happens although it probably needs to be replaced.

Dome light and doors open light stay on when driving.

check you door switch buttons to see if they will each turn off the lights. Open one door at a time, push the door push button by hand and see if the lights go out. If they do, that is your probelm switch or the door is not closing tight enough to psuh the pluger button all the way in.

Interior light is not on whrn doors open

Did you check the switch next to the interior light on the roof? Honda's have a switch position that turns off the dome light completely, so it won't work when the doors are opened or not shut tightly. There are 3 positions, dome light on all the time, dome light on only when door is opened, or ajar, and dome light off. I must say, I love Honda's, but I find this switch annoying!

1997 Tarus dome light and floor lights will not go out.

This is usually caused by the switches sticking in the door latches. Try spraying some WD40 in the latches and open and close the doors a bunch of times that should take care of it.

Fuse 8 blows, dome lights

There is no relay, you have a short in the system, I have fixed dozens of dome light problems on the Taurus and it was seldom the same problem from car to car, check the door switch wires first, remove the switch and diconnect it, if the short goes away the wiring is shorted to the door switch. I am sorry but there is never easy solutions to this kind of problem.
