Batteries are a hit and miss.Sometimes you get a good one that works for years and years, and then you can get one that wont take and hold a charge. YEP, thats right...Two identical batteries off the same assembly line, one right after another, one could be great and the very next one is no good. Take it back to the battery store for replacement. AND DONT GET IT FROM WAL-MART... the Neverstart brand

Something is draining my brand new battery! New alternator, fuses checked, what else can I try?

Lacey are you sure your alternator is puting out.just because it is knew doesn't mean it's anygood. But if it is there a fuse at the alternater check it.Also make sure the battery is charged and have someone inside the car where the fuses are.Theother one out at battery lossen the cable for the battery to where they can put it on and off by hand.ok Now as you take off cable look to see if it sparks, if it does there is a short in your wiring or a bad ground.Know the other peson needs to take out a fuse then theperson at bettery need to do there thangjust keep doing till it quit sparking that will tell about where Short is. gl

1993 nissan sunny no longer runs since battery was connected wrong way round. Indicators etc do not work. Car starts but then 'dies'

There is only three things that would have happened.
1: First check your fuse panel, check all the fuses . if none are dead try the second step
2: take out the alternator, go have it tested, the diodes may be fried. If the alternator is bad there ya go.
3: if the alternator is good (lucky) And it still does not run , then your ECM and PCM are fried. In which case you will have to get new ones which will run a pretty penny ( $500-$1000.00)
you might get lucky and find a set in your local junkyard
good luck and let me know about your alternator

2001 f250 changed battery changed alternator stupid thing stiil will not charge battery

make sure the cables are both good if they have a spot that feels flimsy the wires inside are likely corroded and the current is not running through it properly. a simple charging system check would be recommended.

I have 05 kia rio. jump started dead battery but the cables were crossed and killed it instead. purchased new battery. car stuck in park. worked when screwdriver in override button but still won'

There is a large maxi-fuse between the battery and alternator. Its at least 100 amp or more. It may be in the cable at the battery, or in one of the fuse boxes.
You may also have damaged the key switch or the brake circuit.
You may have to get a book to get the wiring diagrams to check everything involved.

it sounds like you did every thing write... well i would start checking for a burnt (fuse-able link wire)
i know chrysler uses alot of fuse-able links.. start at the positive side of battery...
i don't know if you know what this is? a fuse-able-link is a plain looking wire that will melt inside the rubber casing, the way i check them is by grabing the wire with two hands and try to pull the wirer apart.. if it streches it blowen....Hope this help you out???

After putting inn a new starter, new battery, and battery fuse my car starts sometimes. I can start it and go somewhere and then go to leave and it won't start. A jump does start it.

I would have the think its the alternator. If a jump starts the car, maybe the alternator isnt charging the battery properly. If you can take it off, Auto Zone, and places like that will test for free. Also, start your car and put a volt meter on you battery. You should be makin 14ish volts (14.4). If its making less (like 12-13) id def say its the alternator. (make sure everything is off in your car when you take the volt reading. Heater,lights,stereo,headlights.... Everything)

New battery won't charge, alt. good from bone yard, is there a voltage regulater on this car?

The VR is integral to the alternator. Check the fusible link and the 10 amp fuse in the battery fuse box.

Is there a fuse in car or under hood that would stop the battery charging system fro working in 98 lincoln town car

yes there is a fuse, labeled alt fuse and its under the hood in the relay fusebox, if the car is not charging, then just check for power to the alternator, the small wire not the big one, good luck,
