MMmmm....just right off the bat, most tranny leaks are not that expensive for the's they actual replacing of them that can be tricky. Not many parts that can leak yet they all seem to be a pain to fix. Best suggestion is to wipe it all down the best that you can to see where the leak is coming from. Then, place a piece of cardboard or drip pan underneath and wait...if you have a bad leak, you will notice right away and then can call around to see what the cost would be to fix it. Normally, it is cheaper if you can remove the tranny yourself and take it save up to $85-90 an hour from labor. You also get your tranny back quicker. A plug for AAMCO, "the transmission specialists", you can take your vehicle into them and they will look over your tranny and see what the problem is, not remove anything, and then tell you what is wrong and then give you an estimate. Go with the wipe down first and then see what you find. Both this advice and the AAMCO visual are FREE! Ya can't beat free!!!

Before you do all that I would recommend 3 to 4 treatments of heavy duty transmission stop-leak. Lucas (stops leaks or your $ back) makes a very good product. You can find something like this at an autopart store. It is a 50/50 shot but if it works it will be very inexpensive.

Start from the trans pan and move up, most of the time it is the pan gasket or a lose fitting on the trans cooler if it is equiped.

How do i check and fill transmission fluid on a 2002 isuzu rodeo

I have just finished this task, based on not one, but many, "suggestions" via the internet. Reassuringly enough 95% are correct. Most important is the engine must be warm when attempting to complete this maintenance. If not you will more than likely anger your neighbors while spewing explicatives from underneath your Rodeo. Thank goodness I know my neighbors, they just laughed......

2002 isuzu axiom, transmission is dragging when changing gears

if you have 100k plus miles, have the transmission filter change and flush by the dealer with proper tools and equipment, don't go to regular home town garage, pay little extra to have the work done right especially when it come to transmission work. its also good idea to have the tranny flush every 75k if you want any automatic transmission to last. If the tranny need replacing then take it to transmission shop and not the dealer. Try the filter and flush first..good luck!!

My 2002 isuzu rodeo transmission is slipping should i first get it flushed before buying a transmission?

We had the same problem with a 2002 Rodeo. The transmission must be replaced. But keep in mind the Powertrain Warranty (yes this does cover the transmission) on 2000-2003 Rodeo's is 10yr/120,000 miles. Call 800-255-6727 with your vin# and they will verify. Good luck!
