Torque converter clutch circuit fault. the toque converter is suposed to lock up while cruising to save gas among other things. this code implies that there is a problem in the wiring from the pcm to the lock up. car should drive normally with out it. so it's not high priority. but with these gas prices you may want to check it out.

I have been getting the code p0740 it says something about the torque converter clutch circuit. it doesn't seem to be going into over drive. dose anyone have any suggestions I can try.

On some cars, there is a TCC solenoid in the transmission which can be replaced by removing the bottom pan. In some cars this solenoid can't be accessed without major disassembly.

2003 grand caravan error code po740 and po700 740 is torque solenoid. how do you replace

P0700 means a indicative transmission malfunction, allways this code appears with other, in your case, P0740.
The P0740 code pertains to the TCC solinoid in the transmission, and often comes and goes, so it may not reappear for some time... enough for you to get through the inspection before you decide to have the transmission diagnosed. The torque converter is a device mounted between the engine and transmission. This device transfers engine power to the trans. This code may indicate posssible failure to engage.

Hope helps.

My 2002 pt cruiser check engine light came on today i took it to auto zone they hooked up a computer and it came back with 2 codes wrong a p0700 and a p0740 what does this mean and is it expensive to fix

P0700 simply means there is a fault code present in the transmission module (TCM). P0740 Torque converter clutch circuit. This is usually caused by a worn out torque converter clutch which would involve replacing the torque converter and yes it would be expensive to repair if that is the cause. Diagnosis is usually made with a scanner and other equipment.

Hi i have a 99 hyundia elantra my check engine light is on the codes are p1624,p0137,p0732and p0740 are these codes connected or different problems

As for p1624 this code is for the accent only.
p1613 means the same thing but for the elantra, the
code means malfunction indicator light(mil) signal
circuit input high volt. p0137 means ho2sensor high
voltage (fuel pressure out of range high) p0732 is a
transmission code. It means that due to a malfunction in the trans. circuit, the trans. will operate in limp mode meaning you have reverse and
one forward gear in this case 2nd gear. That brings
us to p0740 this code indicates a malfunction with
the damper clutch control solenoid at the trans. this
would cause the p0732 limp mode. But if your car
is not showing any of these problems, the cause may
be the engine control module or the transmission
control module. But this would have to be checked
with the proper test scanner. Hope this helps.

P0740

torque converter lock-up solenoids are at the top of the transmission on the OUTSIDE. The two came off with three bolts and the screens on mine were clogged with "lint".
