My 2006 vw jetta tdi lost power and died wont restart am told need code to restart but dont have right code

You will have to have the fault codes read by a code reading machine . That will tell you why the engine stopped. I am suggesting that you check to see if the cam shaft is turning when you try to start it as the timing belt may be broken. Repair/replace items listed by the codes -reset the CPU with the code reader

first thing you can do is check your radiator fluid level. a lot of newer vehicals have safties that will automatically shut down your car and when you downshift your rpms jump up and it hits the danger zone kinda thing and will shut it off.

It might be time to change some spark plugs and fuel filter. Have all the maintenance items looked at for replacement. It may be just time for some of the regular things to be checked. Let me know what you find.

Havig trouble with maintaing speed

The electric switch is for the downshift solenoid on the 400 turbo. It will work with out it but you will have to downshift the trans manually. When it dies does it act like you just shut the key off or does it run bad first?

Went through a puddle. Car died. Restarted a day

See these items:-

The starter must have been bad due to the water.

Bad PCM or ignition coil.

Corroded battery cables.

See timing belt.

Good luck

How do i tighten a clutch cable on a 97 jetta gls

There's a star wheel on the cable at the firewall. You can adjust it there. You can put tension on the clutch fork, that way you can see which way to turn the wheel to tighten it up. Hope this is helpful Phil

One comment there is no clutch adjustment, you clutch is hydraulic and it is self adjusting.

97 Metro - Downshifting

if you act like you are going to shift into first and before you do you pull back to 2nd or actually put it in first then to 2nd without the clutch. You might check your transaxle oil and also iol your shifter under the boot it can bind there.
