Tranny just started acting up

It's a '94 F150 xlt with the 4.9 or 300 cube six cylinder...
Just started to notice at 40-50 mph that the transmission feels like it's slipping, sometimes feels like downshifting mostly when going over bumps in the road. fluid seems to have tiny bubbles when looking at the dipstick making it difficult to get an accurate reading...
What do you think? Filter, fluid, modulator, pump??

First thing I would try is a fluid change and filter. you didn't say but I'm guessing it is a elect. shift OD right? called an 4E.
Makes me think that with the bubbles in the oil it might be slipping or low on fluid . Do you check it after you start it but not drive it? If not try that.
If it is low on fluid it has to have a leak as it don't use fluid. Check all the lines fron the trans to the radiator for leaks then check the radiator for oil in the coolant.
Hope this helps
Mike

I have a 94 Ford f150 that drives in first but revs high until it hits 2nd gear then drives normal is my tranny slipping

chances are that you have an E4OD transmission. It a good transmission, however it's electronically controlled (the E, in E4OD). What this means is that many things outside of the transmission itself can cause the transmission to act up. First thing's first... ensure that your fluid level is sufficient. Then, click the link below to read the thread about the E4OD diagnosis process. good luck.

1990 f150 transmission up shift to early

Sounds like the passing gear cable is out of adjustment. Get a shop manual and see what the specs are on how to adjust it properly. It is a pretty simple fix.

Will a 2001 E4OD transmission fit my 96 F150

I would say that physically the transmission may fit due to the engine sizes being the same, but the 96 F150 is a E4OD transmission and the 01 is a 4R70W transmission, they do not work the same electrically.

97 concorde with 3.5 engine @ 40 to 45 mph it starts bucking .

Computer firmware needs upgrade

Take your car to a Chrysler dealer shop and have them update the transmission program. As your tranny wears it loses it shift point and stutters between 40 - 45 mph looking for the right gear to change to..Had same problem in 94 Concorde and 94 T&C minivan.Reprogramming tranny fixed both cars.

your modulator valve is unhooked, or bad. The modulator valve is what tells the transmission when to shift and what gear to shift to. It is located on either side of the transmission depending on the model, Im not sure which side your perticular model be on but it looks like a spark advance. I hope that helps you out.

MY F150 WONT START UP AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE.

If it is like my 94 ranger it is a fuel pump sensor and ignition sensor. Just fixed mine and boy does it scoot. Mine were in a fuse box behind the battery 1in. square black pull out cubes. If you find them. ask a parts place which ones you need. Good Luck, John from Oregon
