Do you have dual zone cooling? If so, you have a bad air blend motor. I had to replace 3 on my 07 Impala and the basic geography of the part locations are the same for your Lucerne. There is one to the left of the radio well back into the dash, one to the right and one by the passenger side kick panel, near the door hinge. They are not for the faint of heart to replace. I had to replace mine because they were clicking and sounding obscene. They run about $25 each. Determine which is faulty using this rule of thumb: Drivers side uncontrollable: replace far left blend motor Passenger side uncontrollable: replace one just to the left of the glove box. If you cannot switch between outside air and recirc, replace the one to the right of the glove box. The blend control motors look eerily similar to a quartz clock movement you'd find in a hobby store, however, that is where the similarity ends.
I'm having the same problem except on mine it's the driver's side that's blowing cold. Do you have the pictures in a finer resolution? I can't make them out and when I zoom, they are too grainy. Does the replacement require removing the dashboard? What's the general cost of the acuators? Are they readily available at like NAPA or other parts stores?
I had this exact problem in a 2000 and it ended up being the air filter (engine compartment, pasenger side cowl)-all I did was replace it and both sides worked properly-you could try removing it and see if that solves it, if not I would think either the climate controller has a problem (vacuum line?) or maybe the blend door itself needs to be adjusted-hope this helps
There are two blend doors with actuators in models with separate controls for driver and passenger in the HVAC unit. Apparently the driver's blend door is broken/jammed, or the actuator is not working. You'd need to check a service manual to determine how hard it is to get to and repair the driver's blend door.
Your truck has blend door actuators that go bad. each side has them . giving you the problem that you have. and in some cases the actual a/c control mod goes bad. Putting the truck on a scanner at the dealer ship they can look at each blend door and comand each one to open and close and find out witch one is not working. or you can buy the pass side blend door actuator / motor the one for the a/c heat blend door and replace your self its not to bad to get to on pass side. you can have them print you out a diagram when you buy it.
