Check operation of auto transmission neutral switch; if that is not faulty check 'Start' output from Ignition sw (or start slave relay) is OK;
If all above OK check for faulty starter motor operation.

I have a 2006 dodge Daytona R/T that the dash board will randomly light up and all the electrical will turn off, headlights, radio, AC, heater, and then come back on it does this at random times and can do...

Jennifer,

It would be nice to know what three things they are suggesting as potential solutions, and with little detail to go on I can only give you some ideas, all of which should be tested and verified before doing any repairs.

The problem is most likely a ground or harness connector that is loose or corroded.

I would start by having the battery connections cleaned, test the battery and Alternator, not just a voltage test but a load test for amperage and an alternator diode test.

Bad batteries and alternator diode problems cause a lot of computer related issues including false codes and erratic gauge/light operation, just because a battery starts the car doesn't make it good, its not as simple as that anymore!

Look for grounds near the battery and under the dash near the steering column, anything that is bolted directly to the body, frame or engine block is a ground, with the battery disconnected, loosen and re-tighten any grounds you can find even if they look ok and seem tight, do it anyway, especially the ones near the battery and under the dash.

There can also be problems with the "BUS" that is used for communication between the various modules in the car, causing weird things to happen like what you are experiencing.

Good luck!

71 c10 not staying charged... new battery alternator fuses good and new voltage regulator

Maybe it wasn't running long enough to charge up the battery?
Stop trying to jump it, when you are having problems with it dying, take the battery off and have it charged. And/or buy a $20 voltmeter to see what the battery shows. If it says less than 12 volts, it is discharged, and needs charging. A good battery that is not run down should have at least 12.5 volts. A new battery that is charged should have very close to 13 volts, maybe 12.8 volts.
When you have the truck running, check the alternator for charging. You put the voltmeter right on the battery and check it again. This time, with truck running, battery should show at least 13.5 volts. That shows the alternator is working. A good alternator will put out about 13 or 14 volts-the regulator will keep it from going any higher to prevent problems, like a melting battery or electrical parts burning out.
I would say get the charging system working right, then address the problem of dying at stop lights. That could be a carburetor problem, if the alternator is working.

Random blinking of lights on dashboard, then battery out

Could be a weak or failing alternator. Have it tested.

Truck is draining charge and not charging battiers

I just went thru same thing with my 2003 f-350 diesel. I hooked up my horse Trailor and drove to Von's parked went in came back out and truck was dead. I tried to jump it didn't work. Then over next two hours two tow truck Drivers hooked up to both batteries full power charge direct to my truck and would not start.
End story required two new batteries alternator and cilanoid discussed above. In other post. Also contributing to the cause was really badly coroded cables they looked good at the connection point but wher discovered to be coroded inside the tubing just above the end connections so bow it has all been replaced and I have had no trouble since. Hope this helps. Tanya

When i turn the key nothing happens, security light still blinks. When i jump it it cranks. so far toyota has replaced the starter, the belt, and the ECM per recall. The alternator has been tested...

It sounds like there is a parasitic current drain on the battery. This could from a vanity mirror lamp, glove box lamp, trunk lamp being on continuously. A technician would have to monitor the current drain on the battery while individual fuses are pulled from the fuse panels. This kind of diagnosis can take a bit of time.

Battery or Alternator??

If the battery doesn't charge it could be either. I would suggest taking the car to Advanced Auto or another reputable company to test the battery and the alternator. The battery could have too many bad cells to maintain a charge or the alternator isn't running. If your battery is older than 4 years that is most likely the culprit.
