On bottom of mirror support (near windshield) 1/4 x1/8 in. slot. Insert flat blade screwdriver between support (black) and silver plate that is attached to windshield. Gently twist screwdriver to release bottom, while pushing up. Mirror should slide up plate and release. It worked for me, hope it works for you.

With a pair of vice grips get it griped enough not to dent the metal and twist left to right to break the seal, put cloth on them to keep from breaking glass, then clean with alcohol.

Rear view mirror map lights are out 2000 buick century

Mine does that occasionally intermittently but if you look around in the back of the mirror you'll see some wires, those are most likely broken.
I had the mirror completely fall off the windshield and had a windshield installation company reattach it because I knew it took a specialty glass glue, well they broke one of the wires but not completely so it shorts out but a wiggle makes the lights come back on and I'm just to busy to take the mirror off the mount and fix it right. You can remove the mirror from the piece that attaches it to the windshield.
Check those wires, good luck

Take it to either a body shop or a windshield repair place and they will probably do it for you while you wait & inexpensively, using the proper adhesive.

Rear view mirror fell off the windshield of my 2001 Buick Century, how do I reglue it?

This happened to me once on one of my cars. I took it to a business that replaces windshields and they glued it back on for free. I expected to pay something to have this done but did not have to.

How to replace rear view mirror on 98 buick century

Most cars have the rear-view mirror and the little metal mount that it slides into. If the whole thing has fell off it is an easy fix.
Go to an auto parts place and tell the counter person you need the glue to glue your mirror mount to the windshield. They will know what to give you.
Then you clean the spot the mirror was hung with alcohol. Let dry
Then follow package directions. Basically you do a dab of glue on mount and press to windshield and hold for a bit of time. Then you wait like 12-24 hrs before sliding the mirror onto the mount.

On the other hand if you are asking for a new mirror you can get one from the Buick dealership - parts dept. or a junkyard or just attach any kind of rear-view mirror. Sorry I can't help you if you have a wired mirror.

How to reattach the inside rear view mirror the whole attachment??

remove, little plate with correct size allen wrench. Next, buy rear view mirror glue kit, at any automotive store, and follow directions. re-attach mirror to plate, once dried on windshield, and re-tighten allen screw.

Rear view mirror came how do i put it back on

This is slightly tricky, you need to pull out and completely clean the metal piece that the mirror attaches to. Go to the auto parts store and get a rear view mirror install kit, follow the directions EXACTLY. There is usually a primer and then a small amount of glue. nothing else works.

The rear view mirror on my 2001 Buick Century fell off. How do I fix it?

ralipka, Most auto parts stores carry kits for your problem. Before you start the process of putting the mirror back on, mark the position of the mirror on the outside of the windshield with a magic marker or whiteout so you know where to place the mirror. Once you clean the area on the inside you will not see where the mirror was. Good luck with this.

Replacing the rear view mirror on a Ford Explorer is easy. The only obstacle you might encounter is fear of breaking the glued metal plate off the windshield. Do not sweat it. You can buy glues at the auto parts store to reattach the mirror to the windshield (Difficulty: Moderately Easy).

Instructions:
  1. Tap gently at the base of the mirror where it slides on over the metal plate glued to the windshield and pull upward. Some rear view mirrors have a small Allen screw that tightens the base of the rear view mirror to the metal plate. Disconnect the electrical plugs if your rear view mirror has them.
  2. Pull the rear view mirror clear of the metal plate. Clean around the metal plate glued to the windshield. If the metal plate has come off because of harsh weather or from hammering too hard at it, reattach it with glue designed for this job.
  3. Clean the area where you will be attaching the metal plate on the windshield. Apply the glue evenly on the surface of the metal plate that will go against the window. Be sure to clean and scrape off all the old glue before applying the new glue. Gently push the metal plate against the windshield in the spot you wanted it and hold tight for five minutes.
  4. Wait a day before putting the base of the mirror or replacement rear view mirror onto the metal plate. Do not force the base over the plate. Forcing it will likely dislodge it again. Press firmly until it will not slide along the grooves of the metal plate. Reconnect your electrical plugs and tighten the Allen screw if your new mirror has one. Adjust the mirror according to your safe viewing preference

Hope help with this (remember rated this help). Good luck.

Replace the rear view mirror

Gently tap the base of the mount upwards. I just replaced mine and I thought there was a cover over the winshield mount, turns out it is just pushed on to the wedge that is mounted to the windshield. Good Luck, webree
