Reset the service engine soon light in a 2000 ford

Service engine soon ? Do you mean SERVICE VEHICLE SOON Indicator
The amber SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator is an alert to the driver whenever there are specific current codes stored in the BCM or in the event of a loss of Class 2 serial data.

If your vehicle has a check engine light ,it doesn't have service engine soon .One or the other .

Disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 minutes. Reconnect after and the code will clear. However if the problem persists, the code will come back with in 20 miles or 30 minutes.

Was the oil changed?

Time for factory service, that happens on those between 80000, and 100000 miles. Ford lets you know. They reset it once service is complete.

most likley the people who serviced it never reset the service clock up,, so the car dont know its just had a service,, and still "thinks "it needs one soon, just get the service clock reset

To reset the light you need a scan tool to clear the codes and this will reset the light.
If you goto any major parts store chain, they can do this for you for free.

The computer should have turned the light out if you installed a new sensor,unless you still have a faulty sensor,You need to have it put on a drb to check for current codes.

Check your oxygen sensor

The service engine soon light indicates you have a problem with the engine management system.The only way to get it to stay off is to lacate and repair whatever is not working correctly. Requires very specialized equipment. Take it to your mechanic.
