Question about 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt

Amount of oil in Chevy Cobalt

I have an 08 Cobalt LT. 2.2L engine.

I have read, and have been told that the cobalt takes 5 qts of oil. However, everytime I check my oil, its above the max line, even after I drain a little bit out. Should I leave the oil as is? Or should I drain some out so its below the max line? Im wondering if I just have a faulty dip stick that catches and smears oil on its way up the tube. Thanks!

05 cobalt manual oil pumped clogged up, engine almost ran dry. replaced oil and filter and few days later engine started pinging. kinda moderate when idling then very rapid while driving. Wanna do the

pinging is from spontaneous combustion ( detonation) and is from incorrect air /fuel ration and ignition timing. Run fault codes and check knock sensor and MAF/MAP/VAF sensors . Left un- checked it will melt holes in the pistons.

Problem with power steering sometimes it works sometimes it don't

I had a similar problem with my 2005 Cobalt LT. Mine was as simple as checking the engine oil level. When the engine oil gets too low it will make the car do all kinds of weird stuff.

Had an oil change about a month ago and about 5 weeks later motor is gone. No oil light came on, no oil leaks

WELL NO OIL LEAKS.WARRANTY MIGHT COVER IT BUT YOU NEED TO SHOW ALL OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS.ALSO YOU HAVE TO USE GM MOTOR OIL LIKE 5W - 30 VALVOLINE USE GM OIL FILTERS.THEY WILL CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU BEEN KEEPING UP WITH SERVICE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE SCHEDULES.CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL ON DIP STICK SHOULD BE AT FULL MARK LINE. THE CHEVY COBALT LS LT LTZ 2.2 ENGINE HOLDS 5.0 QUARTS OF OIL WITH NEW FILTER AND CHEVY COBALT SS SC HOLDS 6.0 QUARTS WITH NEW FILTER.IF OIL LEVEL LOOK OKAY.CHECK ON INTERNET FOR ANY RECALLS OR ANY TROUBLE WITH EARLY OIL PUMP FAILURE.
