Question about 1988 Jaguar XJ6
Almost certainly the Crankshaft Position Censor, I had the same problem and that fixed it instantly. The CPS is located at the front of the engine below the top radiator hose and held in by one allen bolt, it is VERY easy to replace yourself and the cost for a new one is about $80 and can be purchased at Carquest. This problem is very common and it is said to always keep a spare in your trunk. Hope this helps. Ron
