My ac doesnt work in my 2001 tahoe. i bought freon for it. the compressor is not kicking on when i turn the ac on, but the gage shows in the red when i hook it up to try and put freon in it. i shot a little in it and the compressor kicked on and off. the gage then went to the green when it kicked on and then went back to the red when it kicked off. any ideas?

The a/c system needs a minimum pressure before the system will run. the system must have a leak so just buying freon may last a day or a few months depending on the size of the leak. also leaking freon into the air is ozone depleating, it should be recovered properly.

the system needs to be recoved of all freon. vacuum to -30psi held checked for leaks. (uv dye or nitrogen and soapy water). leaks fixed. vacuum to evacuate moisture and air. refilled with proper amount of freon (too much or too little make the air not as cold).

it's low on freon. add it in slowly until the comressor stays on. then keep adding until the vent temp gets cold. if it starts to get warm when adding you have to remove some. pressure should be something like 30psi low side 180 high side. there may be air in your system so it may never be really cold.

Ac is not blowing out cold air. You have to put gages on the system and it shows its has freon.Checked all fuses and relays. The two fans in engingine compartment do not come on when the ac is turned on but does when the engine gets hot. The compressor engages when turned on also.
If the magnetic clutch engages the compressor and still no cold air could be still low in freon or the HVAC unit.

Blower motor not working all the time...if I bang the dash near the glove box, it comes on then works great. Is this the switch assembly, the resistor problem, or should I be replacing the blower motor?

I HAVE A 2001 CHEVY TAHOE FRONT AC BLOWS COLD REAR DOESNT

I would agree it might be the valve.
One line should be cold and the other warm or hot.

2001 Chevy blazer ac compressor kicks on then immediately off

Its supposed to do that.
If the system is full of freon, the compressor should start up above 30psi and stay running.
Have you added any freon yet ? What is the high side pressure ?

The ac is blowing out only hot air

  1. Have your A/C's Freon pressure tested. If it is low, have it charged with new freon.
  2. If your Freon is at the correct level, your Compressor or Compressor Clutch may have gone bad.
  3. When you turn your A/C on, can you tell if the compressor kicks on? Usually you will feel a slight shudder from the engine, or you will hear the RPM's slightly raise and then level out. The temperature blend door may be stuck (if a/c compressor kicks-in)

Ac compressor wont click on my friend said that there is a sensor next to the starter he said to pull the wires off of it and jump it if it clicks on the sensor is no good if it doesnt the compressor is...

When you jump the switch all you are doing is forcing the compressor to kick in and work. It could be low on freon which will also keep it from kicking on which in that case you need to have it charged so does not mean your "sensor" (switch) is bad or that your compressor is bad.

Replaced AC Condenser and Evacuated System.. Holds negative pressure but when adding the freon after the oil all the freon doesnt seem to empty out of the can. And noticed that the Compressor hasnt...

When you add the freon turn the can upside down and it will push the oil and freon out of the can. If you have it up it sends freon but no oil.
You also may need more freon before the compressor will kick in.

My 2001 Santa Fe only blows hot air & the compressor wont work

What's synthetic freon?

It sounds like you overpressurized the system and blew a seal, which means all the gas has leaked out.

You'll need to take it to a shop where they can use a colored dye to find the leak and repair. Let them refill your r12 or r134 also.
