Question about 2001 Chrysler Town & Country
My wife has an 06 Town and Country and it has a moldy wet smell coming from inside the front doors when the windows are down. My work just gave me an 08 T&C and it has the same problem. I went to the dealer today and looked at a used one on the lot and it had the same stink coming from the doors when the windows are down. Has anybody else run into this problem???
The dealers act like they don't know anything about it.
Try this...Mix a solution of 1/2 tap water, 1/2 isopropyl alcohol...about 1 quart - total should be sufficient. Put your window all the way down and where the glass drops BELOW the rubber moulding at the top of the door, take a kitchen funnel and push in-between the moulding/door panel and pour the solution into the door. Water should run out of the bottom of the door...IF it doesn't, one or all of the "ports" built into the bottom of the door are plugged...causing mold buildup in the door and creating your "smell" Locate these "ports" at the bottom of the edge of the door and clean them out with small STIFF wire. If the door drains water as it should - the alcohol will kill the mold in the door and the excess will run out...no harm will be done.
