Is the BCM on a 2000 Chevy Blazer S-10 plug and play

I would say no. You have the resistor key for the ignition, right? The bcm is programmed to read that resistance or it will not enable the start relay.

What kind of motor oil goes in a 97 blazer?

this depends on how many miles and what climate. your best bet is to call your local chevy dealer if you have one. since Obumma who knows, we lost our dealership in this area. sure makes sence now I have to go 250 miles to get genuine chevy parts. selling my chevy vehicles and as painful as it is am buying Ford at least it's not govt. owned and made somewhat in the USA. good luck and if all else fails 10w-30 is allways a good bet.

I had the same exact thing happen to me, I have a 97 blazer and after hours of screwing around with it and several different options... it turned out to simply be the ignition switch.

Wont change gears

No, that's not the problem (sort of), your car computer needs to be reprogrammed...you should be fine once it's reprogrammed or have the computer replaced. Having it reprogrammed is cheaper "IF" the computer is ok, only a mechanic will know that...it's not a job that can be fixed at home...it requires special equipment.
