Question about 1996 Lincoln Town Car
My front windows, especially the driver side have problems going up. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. There have been times they won't even go down, but if I keep messing with the switch it will work. It's been like this for about a year now.
I had a problem like this on both driver side windows. They started off going up slower and slower until eventually they wouldn't go up at all. When pressing the switch, I could still hear the motor, but the window wouldn't work. The solution was to replace the regulators.

To all of ya with window problems that wont work. It could be the window regulator, or the motor. To replace the regulator.Remove the door paner, using a punch tap out the rivet inserts, then drill out the rivets using a 1/4 inch drill bit. Remove the regulators inspect them and if they are workable apply some bearing grease. Remove the motor take it apart remove the plastic bushings and replace the (3) plastic plugs with ball bearings which cost $.84 cents each at any hardware store. To replace the regulator you will need 1/4 inch bolts with lock nuts.
