Sounds like possbly your old starter might have been good starting solinoide is bad, did you replace both starte and soliniode if not replace the starting soliniode should fix problem. If you bought a rebuild it might be bad. take it to Auto Zone they can test both the solinoide and starter.

Starter replacement, how to r@r starter

First you unhook the battery neg side first then pos side then you remove the wires from the starter solinoid make a mental note so you know how to hook it back up then take out the two starter bolts holding it remove old starter put new one in put the two starter bolts in then put wires back on the solinoid hook the battery back up and your done.

if it just clicks when trying to start. then most likely its the starter solinoid. the solinoid is what pushes gear out to meet flywheel when starting. its up to you, you can replace starter or just the solinoid. but it would be in your best interest to change whole starter. then you know it will be ok. have a good day !!

Never wash engine in zr-1,starter is in center of engine, drain hole is usually plugged up,starter has shorted out, will need new starter, clean drain hole out when it is changed

the older fords used a remote solinoid. the big terminal is a power all the time. the small one is the energizer and only gets hot when the key is in the start position. the third one that goes to the starter motor its self turns the motor. on the old solinoid on the fender you should find a small wire hooked to it hat only gets hot when you turn the key to start.lenghten it and attach to the small terminal on the starter. i would however see if you cant get the correct starter first, for it in my opinoin is the better system

1994 jaguar xjs just clicks when i try to start it-battery is new. The starter bad?code was RR39

If there is a power drain - new battery or old - it needs to be well charged to start the car..
If the batt is charged well - it could be the starter solinoid or the starter..
However - the typical "clicking sound" is usually a low battery..
IF the batt is low - could be the charging sytem or a power drain ..
