Rent a strut compression tool clamp the clamps on the spring tighten down and loosen the top three bolts some have two, then compress spring far enough to allow you to remove the strut bearing. and replace with new one and clean before installing new bearing. lightly lube wd 40.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I CHANGE WHEN I AM CHANGING REAR STRUTS ON 94 CAMRY

On the struts, it will depend a bit on what you find, but I would also replace the bounce buffers, upper and low spring seat rubbers and maybe the strut upper bearing plates if they have been noisy at all. They do wear.

Have a close look at the bushings in the lower lateral arms and the torque rods (drag links). I would replace the sway bar mount bushings as they are notorious on this car for wearing quickly.

What r problems to be on the look out for on a 1999 chevy malibu with the 3100 v6 in it and there is a rattle when i hit bumps or rough road the struts are fine

Broken stabalizer links, broken stabilizer bar, and worn out stabilizer bar bushings are fairly common. As well as the rear bushings on the front lower control arms. A quick inspection of the front end and you should be able to tell if the links are bad, bar is broken, or the lower control arm bushings are separated. If the rear bushings on the front lower control arms are seperated the lower control arm will look like it is resting on the subframe.

Rattling noise from near side front wheel area. Have checked for play on bearing and checked brake disc. No problem detected. Noise only occurs at low speeds.

i have the exact same problem ive got 2001 honda civic and have an annoying rattle from the wheel area. i have replaced cv joint, ball joint, sway bar drop links, strut, and suspension bushing and arm....but still rattle noise is there. dnt have a clue what it could be, from looking on the internet i have found few possibilities.....lower control arm/bushin...motor mounts....gear box mounts....strut rod bushing....axle....inner/outer cv joint....calliper pins......shock/shock bushing...or wheel bearing. im hoping tio get all this checked out its got to be able to be fixed somehow!

NO YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE STRUTS MOUNTS AND THE BEARINGS UNDERNEATH IT. THE STRUTS ONCE THEY GET AGE ON THEM THE RUBBER THAT QUIETS THE BUMPS WHILE U DRIVE START BREAKING A PART. SO JUST REPLACE THE STRUT MOUNTS AND BEARINGS. NOW A WAY TO CHECK THE STRUTS R TO GO EACH SIDE WHERE THE WHEEL IS AND PUT YOUR HAND ON THE FENDER OR THE TRUNK AND PUSH UP AND DOWN REALLY HARD THEN LET GO WATCH TO SEE IF THE CAR KEEP SHAKING OR STOPS. IF IT SHAKES THAT STRUT IS BAD. IF NOT THEN U R GOOD. ALSO IT GOOD TO REPLACING 2 FRONT SEPRATE OR TWO REAR NOT ONE AT A TIME DUE TO ALIGNMENT ISSUES. GOOD LUCK

Clunking noise

You have worn out upper strut bearing support caps. This is the device that is on top of the struts, and hold the strut to the car. This is a very common issue. You will need to remove the struts, and have the strut coils compressed to remove the bearing support caps. Please do NOT try to compress the strut coils without the correct tool. You could get severly injured if you try this without a proper coil-spring compresser.
