I HAVE A 2000 CHEV CAVALIER WAS RUNNING FINE LAST NIGHT WENT TO LEAVE THIS MORNING AND THE T/C LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR MAKES A SPUTTERING SOUND LIKE IT WAS MISSING . I DROVE TO END

The T/C Light should be the traction control. In all likelihood, it may be indicative that the brakes need servicing. If you have not serviced the brakes in some time, it may be a good idea to check the condition of both the front and rear brakes. I would think that the traction control would be on the front brakes. The sputtering of the engine may or may not be related to the brakes, but I would start there first. If brakes are making the vehicle hesitate, they could be forcing the engine to work too hard to function. I would definitely start with the brakes and move from there. Once you have addressed the brakes there is a high likelihood that the check engine light will go off. If it does not have a reputable auto part store check for any trouble codes in the On Board Computer to get an idea of what else could be wrong. The Brakes should not be ignored in that they are your last defense in controlling the vehicle.
Good luck and happy motoring.

have a load test done on the battery to check for failing cell. Check the drive belt condition and tension. check alternator out put. Everything you have mentioned indicates a lack of battery power. Check terminal condition and tension of the clamp bolts.

1995pontiac,firebird6cyl,sputters at 2000rpm

When you say "sputters at 2000 rpm" , are you referring to ANY time the engine is at 2000 rpm - meaning in Park, when you are just goosing the throttle, or in gear when you are accelerating, or at highway speed in high gear? If you are experiencing a "shuddering" in the engine at certain speeds/rpms - especially if these are speeds you regularly cruise at (long commutes at steady speeds), the problem could be in the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). They have a tendency to wear unevenly if you drive a certain steady speeds. Eventually, the problem would progress to an engine code, but it may occur without setting the check engine light.

I have a 96 Chev. Beretta, and hard to start with sputtering and sneezing after misfire. and then will eventually start but very high idle speed.

If the check engine light is on I would check it for trouble codes first.
The high idle could be a vac leak or faulty idle air control valve.

My 2006 chevy cobalt 2.2 liter sputters

Fault with the IAC valve.there maybe a trouble code associated with it also./ Go to your nearby autozone or auto parts retailer and ask them to put a scanner to the car....make note of the codes if any are found. the IAC valve i usually locate don the throttle body and can be removed for inspection and sometimes cleaning using a good throttle body cleaner spray and a pipe cleaner brush.

ENGINE SPUTTER AND DIES ON ACCELERATION

check your fuel filter, take an air compressor and blow air through the "in" end if no or little air is coming through then just replace the filter, if fuel filter is ok then try a fuel additive to clean your injectors which are a very common problem when the engine gets gunky build up on them
