What is the easiest way to replace the serpenteen belt on a 2001 ford windstar?

Make sure you have a belt routing picture under the hood, usually near the radiator. There is a spring loaded tensioning pulley among the other pulleys. You have to relieve the tension while slipping the belt off and on. Most of the time, you need a long handled wrench, or socket driver.

How does a serpenteen belt come loose on a 95 buick le lesabre?

Hi,
There's a tensioner pulley at the front/middle of the engine. It's the little wheel between the power steering pump and the alternator - the belt runs on the underside of it. You have to get a wrench or ratchet on the center nut of this pulley, and rotate it counterclockwise until you can slip the belt off. It is a lot of force, so having a helper could be good if you need both arms.

There should be a label showing the belt routing somewhere under the hood. If not, it helps to take a photo of the belt routing beforehand,

Can"t figure out how to remove the serpenteen belt

If you are changing the belt you dont have to remove it.get a socket and breaker bar or big wrench to fit the nut in the middle of the tension er push or pull and the tension er will move enough to put belt on Be careful, its spring loaded and can pop the hell out of you.Be sure to put the new belt on straight and not inside out the groves face in

Change a serpentine belt on a 97 lincoln

3.8L Engine
  1. Insert a 1/2 inch flex handle in the square hole in the tensioner. The tensioner has a square hole cast into the rear of the tensioner body directly behind the pulley. Rotate the tensioner clockwise and remove the belt from the pulleys.

NOTE As an alternate method, a 16mm socket can be placed on the tensioner pulley bolt and rotated clockwise to remove the belt.

To install:
  1. Following the schematic on the decal under the hood, loop the drive belt over all the pulleys except the alternator pulley.
  2. With the belt installed properly on all except the alternator pulley, rotate the tensioner as described above and install the belt on the alternator pulley. Ensure that all the V-grooves make proper contact with the pulleys.

4.6L Engine
WARNING Do not allow the drive belt tensioner to snap back as damage to the drive belt tensioner or personal injury could result.

  1. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise with a breaker bar installed in the 3/8 inch square hole in the drive belt tensioner.
  2. Lift the drive belt over the idler pulley flange and remove the drive belt.
To install:
  1. Following the schematic on the decal under the hood, position the belt over the pulleys, except the idler pulley.
  2. Rotate the tensioner as described above and install the belt on the idler. Ensure that all the V-grooves make proper contact with the pulleys.

I need to put the fanbelt back on

Get a serpentine belt tool from a parts store. It is a flat metal piece with a handle, and a fitting for a socket on the opposite end. The tool will surely come with the size socked you need. Use the tool on the bolt on the serpentine belt tensioner pulley, as should be located on a schematic printed under the hood. When you loosen the tensioner, the belt will be able to get around all of the pulleys that you need, again following the schematic prinded on the underside of the hood.

How do I loosen the serpenteen belt on my 2000 chevy silverado 1500? I need to replace the alternator.

If it's a v8 then when looking at the engine the top left pulley has a 15mm bolt holding the pulley on. Use an endwrench and move/pull it to the drivers side of the truck!
