Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Alero
I am looking to buy a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero with a 2.4 engine. It says it has a broken timing belt... how much would this cost to fix?
2.4L engine dont have timing belt.it has a timing chain.fixing timing chain dont cost much.but the damage that occur when it broke.you probably got bent valves.damage piston heads.you can buy car if they dont charge arm and leg.you can repair timing chain your self for at least .$300.00.you have to buy timing chain.it come in a set.you get timing gears and tensioners.about.$190.00 and .$40.00 for timing cover gasket and seal.dealership going to charge you at least.$600.00 including labor.
