Question about 1996 Toyota Corolla

1 Answer

When car is in PARK mode, you can start the motor, but can't get it off PARK - this is because brake lights are dead. Replaced the fuse, and all is OK till I kill the engine, after braking. Again the same problem - can't get the car off PARK. A short ? Where ? How do I find it ?

Hi
Run a new fused hot line to the cold side of the brake switch.Read this and you will understand the power for the brake lights goes through you signal light switch first (example when you have the left signal light on ,and your pushing the brake pedal the right side is a brake light and the left side is the signal light )so either you signal light switch is bad or there is a reley for the brakes in the model car you have i dont believe so though somtimes when the switch goes bad you get a burnt plastic or wire smell you dont get the smell all the time you may not smell it at all .try to turn your singnal light left and right a few times if that dont work try to push you fourway button a couple times this may get it working again for a while but it wont fix it there is metel contacts in there and there not contacting properly .

hope u will b helpfull
regards

Brake lights out car stuck in Park

I would check all fuses and replace any if needed. If fuses are ok...I would check the brake pedal switch.

Truck is dead...all lights gauges work but turn key to start and nothing..

Is the truck dead...or do all the lights and guages work? If the lights and guages work then the truck is not dead.
First, make sure the truck is in park or neutral. If the truck is in either of the two gears and still does not start, check the crank fuse under the hood. Also check the immobilizer fuse (2amp) as well.

Hi I have a 2006 Dodge Charger SE with 67,000 miles on it.. I got in my car to head to wrk and my gear shift will not move out of park. I tired it several times still will not move. I pulled up my skirt...

SOUND LIKE TRANSMISSION BRAKE INTERLOCK SOLENOID IS NOT ENERGIZING.MAKE SURE BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON WHEN YOU APPLY BRAKE PEDAL.SEE IF BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH MALFUNCTION OR BRAKE LIGHT FUSE BLOWN. THE TRANSMISSION BRAKE INTERLOCK SOLENOID WONT ENERGIZE, WHICH WILL KEEP YOU FROM GETTING CAR OUT OF PARK.MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 12.6 VOLTS AT BATTERY.DEAD BATTERY YOU WONT BE ABLE TO GET CAR OUT OF PARK.CHECK TRANSMISSION BRAKE INTERLOCK SOLENOID FUSE AND CHECK TO MAKE SURE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE IS GOOD AND BRAKE LIGHT FUSE NOT BLOWED.

Cant get my 1993 nissan altima out of park

is your battery dead? turn your headlights on. do they work? if not, then the battery is dead. your car will not come out of park unless the brake lights come on. if the batterys dead, the brake lights will not come on. try a boost from another car. another solution, brake light fuse is blown.look under the dash or on driverside dash panel for fuse panel. look for a brake kight fuse that's blown. have you tryed applying the brake pedal with car off to see if the brake lights come on?hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Will not shift out of park

will try to help. is your battery dead? are you applying the brake?it will not shift out of park until your brake lights come on. do you have a fuse blown? look under dash for fuse box, look for brake light fuse, location of the fuse may be on fuse box cover, turn upside down to see. also, it can happen, maybe brake light bulbs are both blown. it's known to happen.hope this helps, and thank you for choosing fixya.com
