You can cut it off with a hack saw and replace it with a new one and buy clamps to install the new one or take it to a shop and have it welded on.

1999 Blazer ZR2. Replacing muffler and tail pipe. Can not pull apartl flange on muffler and exhaust pipe. Bolts broke off and still can't break. Don't have air impact chisel. Would heat help.

The auto store probably sells a big chisel and a 4 lb hammer? If your going to replace anyway, use a hack saw. In my younger days, I've cut many a tail pipe with a hack saw. So a new muffler and tail pipe will have new flanges? I can't see anything from here.

How do i replace the muffler on a 1997 mazada

doesn't really matter. if it is bolted or welded as you can cut the old muffler out and get adaptor sleeves that go over the pipes and are clamped on with the muffler clamps.

Hanging muffler

There are a number of add-on brackets to support a muffler. All they use is a strap with a U-clamp that is the size of the pipes and a mount that fastens to the frame.
You would need to know a safe place to possibly drill a hole for the mounting bolt on the mounting end of the hanger. You could just have a torn rubber strap and may be able to use the old mounting hole once the original bolt is removed.

Ford Escape with rusted, broken bolts/muffler hanging loose from catalytic converter estimate/fix

That is a pretty common issue with the escapes. Most of the time the broken bolts can be removed and new bolts along with a gasket can be installed and everything is fine. Sometimes the flanges are to rusted and the two pieces need to be replaced. Just depends on the vehicle.

The muffler hanger broke on my toyota corolla, how do i replace the hanger?

Roll Your OwnThis model's muffler hanger (the metal strap holding the muffler itself onto the car body) is a two-piece design held together with two bolts. The lower piece, shaped like a broad U, can break loose if one of the bolts rusts away. Replacement parts from the local auto store come as a single piece and are not an exact match. This type of replacement will require some determined work to fit once you have removed all of the entire original strap components. And it will cost $30 plus a trip to the hardware store.

If the original U-shaped lower piece is lost or too damaged to reattach, it is a simple matter to fashion a new one with items available at any Home Depot and costing about $6. 1.5-inch wide galvanized metal strips with a row of holes down the middle come in 4 foot lengths, and metric nuts and bolts are often in the same section. Assuming none of the bolts are left, you'll need two 8mm 1.25 bolts, two nuts of the same size, and a few washers big enough to fit easily over the bolts.

Once home, a simple pliers and hacksaw are all you need to bend and shape the galvanized strip to fit around the lower half of the muffler, which should be about two feet in length. After that, it's just a matter of supporting the dangling muffler (a jack or a piece of wood) and screwing the new piece into each end of the original upper half of the hanger. A number 13 metric wrench will do the trick. If you're comfortable with basic tools, this repair will take 20 minutes and outlast your Corolla. -dan parker

Your description sounds much like a problem my son had with his Jeep. If the transmission and engine have ever been separated, there is a good chance that two very hard to reach bolts which hold the tranny and engine together at the flange of the bell housing were never tightened properly. With even normal driving (his isn't), the other bolts can loosen and eventually the angle between the two assemblies becomes too steep to function properly and the input shaft to the transmission can fail.
With a good light, inspect the rear of the engine where it meets the bell housing to see if there is any visible crack between the two. If you can see anything like space there, you may have some expensive repairs ahead.

Muffler strap broken on 2001 saturn sc1 series how to repair the easy way

Part is a dealer only part. There is 2 pieces to it. The strap is all you should purchase. The other part disconnects via a treaded bolt through the rubber mount above the muffler. Loosen the bolt/clamp on the muffler first this will give you the room to reach above the muffler with good lighting.
