The tail shaft on a two wheel drive transmission is too long to use in a four wheel drive truck, and to change the tail shaft you have to take the transmission apart. Otherwise you'd be okay.

Can you interchange a 1998 chevy tracker 2wd 6 cylinder manual transmission with a 1992 chevy s 10 2 wd 6 cyulinder manual transmission?

I suggest the site has a built in Hollander interchange. If you put in what part you are looking for, it will tell you all parts that show to interchange and you can search by distance and find parts close to you.

I have a 1999 1500 2wd Chevy Suburban and my transmission went out. Will a 1992 1500 2wd Chevy Suburban transmission fit?

A salvage yard should have the interchange books to tell you for sure. You'll need the model of each one, like 4L80 or 4L60.

Is dodge eagle transmission interchangeable with dodge intreped

If the Eagle is 2 wheel drive try to determine if it has a 41te or 42te transmission. These can be interchanged by a knowledgeable mechanic assuming your vehicle is compatible. Many times these transmissions are referred to as a 604 or 606 respectively. The weak link in the 604 is it's output shaft splines.

I have a 93 2wd suburban with the 4l60e, my questIon is will a 4l60e out of a 97 van work with my suburban. What can I do to make it work?

Is the van rear wheel drive?
Same transmission, same configuration? If they are, call your local salvage/junk yard. Some friendly guy there can check the Hollander Interchange Manual to see if it's a direct swap (that's about all the manual tells-yes or no, on a direct swap). If it's yes, clear sailin' for YOU! But if it's a no, you will have to find the differences to see if it's still a feasable venture. (I wanna know, too.) Several things come to mind: is gearing the same for same final drive ratio? Electronic shift points the same, same computer hookups, (the '97 would be OBD II) Can you incorporate the controls into your suburb? I hope you find an answer.

What is the difference between 1997 chevy astro and truck transmissions both have 4.3 v6

Hi, as long as they are both for a 2wd, the trans will work. The difference is an extra clutch disc, and possibly 2 heavier springs. But they both bolt in the same, and for all intensive purposes it will work. Good

4l60e transmission

Provided that your truck is 2WD and not 4WD, it looks like it will work. Check the length of both and make sure they match, the 2WD is longer than the one in the 4WD's and it dosent look like they can be interchanged without tearig into the casing and swapping parts.

Also check the bolt patterns on both, as some earlier versions of that transmission are 4 bolt instead of 6 bolt.

As far as the flywheel goes, you'll probably be ok with yours, I really cant answer that unfortunately.

1997 XK8 Transmission Failure. Will 2001 XK8 transmission work

I had a similar problem with my 1997 XK8. Apparently the transmission will not last much more than 100,000 miles. You need to replace the clutch in the transmission - cost between $2,500 and $4,000.
