It shows a fault with crank sensor. I have tried two new sensors, first a britax part then a genuine landrover part. they both worked first of all for week or two then started playing up causing engine to cut out or miss fire, on one occasion a a fault showed up as no2 injector exceeded limit whatever that means. What do you think ?

It does sound like electrical problems. When it does this you need to know is it not getting fire, fuel or both. The alarm could be a problem, engine control, or a simple ground strap loose. Make sure you battery terminals are clean and connections are tight. The last time i saw this happen it turned out to be a wiring issue because someone had tapped into the factory alarm harness and the wiring was done very poorly which was causing the problem.

cheaper to have codes read than replacing parts that may not be required, but yes could be crank sensor

I just ran into a 2002 Discovery doing the same thing. What ended up being the fix was a cam sensor and crank sensor. That is about all I can say without more information. Hope this helps and best of luck.
