Question about 1996 Nissan Pickup

1 Answer

I was driving at night and the headlights went out. This happened just as I switched from hi beam to low beam. I was wondering if it may be the switch.

Check the fuse box, there may be a burnt fuse. If it is burnt, have the fuse replaced, if it burns out again after replacing, have it checked with an authorized dealer.

My headlights wont work

I don't believe there is a fuse. There is a circuit breaker built into the headlight switch. If you are sure the headlight switch is good, it could be a bad dimmer switch. If you have a voltmeter, with the headlight switch turned on, a larger yellow wire going from the headlight switch to the dimmer switch should be a hot wire. The dimmer switch sends power on a tan wire to the low beams, and through a light green wire to the high beam bulbs.
If your high beam indicator on the dash also doesn't work, then it is likely one of those switches. A voltmeter or test light would need to be used to find which one is bad. If you can find the connector at the steering column going to the dimmer switch, pull it apart and check for power on the yellow wire coming from the headlight switch, with the headlight switch turned on. If no power, the headlight switch is bad. If there is power there, then the dimmer switch must be bad.

I have a 2005 Buick LaCrosse. Why are the headlights not coming on in the dark?

You have the headlamp switch set on auto or are you turning them on manually ? Low beams work ? but not high beams ? High beam relay in the under hood fuse box .relay #34 .

Hi - Last night while driving at night I realized my headlights weren't on - the high beams come on but no low beams - it is a 2005 Hyundai Sonata - any ideas why? Or how to fix it? Thanks Kathy

it might be that one was out and not noticeable intel the other one went out you can check that by lookingin to the light bulb it self and check fuses and the relay

Low beam headlight is out, doesn't look like a fuse

Check the Headlight Switch. If your headlights come on automatically check the headlight sensor and its associated relay.

Low beam headlights

Try swapping #45 cooling fan relay and #46 HDM (headlight driver module) relay in the underhood fuse block. These are solid state modules and are not like conventional relays.
