Re: engine won't start
Sounds like an AUTOMATIC SHUTDOWN (ASD) RELAY problem. Fairly common on the Caravan. Heres a brief overview of the ASD. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) operates the Auto Shutdown (ASD) relay by switching the ground path on and off. The ASD relay supplies battery voltage to the fuel injectors, electronic ignition coil and the heating elements in the oxygen sensors. The PCM controls the relay by switching the ground path for the solenoid side of the relay on and off. The PCM turns the ground path off when the ignition switch is in the Off position unless the 02 Heater Monitor test is being run. Refer to On-Board Diagnostics. When the ignition switch is in the On or Crank position, the PCM monitors the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor signals to determine engine speed and ignition timing (coil dwell). If the PCM does not receive the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor signals when the ignition switch is in the Run position, it will de-energize the ASD relay. The ASD relay is located in the Power Distribution Center (PDC). The PDC is located on the driver's side inner fender well Power Distribution Center . A label on the underside of the PDC cover identifies the relays and fuses in the PDC Check for good ground. Good luck...i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

And you know the fuel filter is good? Could be injector problem: just as a check, spray some starting fluid into the intake and see if engine runs a few seconds. If it does, it is a fuel problem. Check injector fuse, as a start. Check fuel pressure. Check injector circuit. If engine won't start with starting fluid, check if you are getting spark. Problem may be in the ignition system.
Can you jumper the fuel pump and make it start and continue to run ? Have you checked to see if you are getting spark when it won't start ? Could be a relay or coil, ignition module, or other component.
The only way to know for sure is to hook a gauge to the rail and check the fuel pressure when it won't start. Sitting for a few minutes and restarting is normally a sign of a relay or coil cooling off. There should be a EEC relay that powers the dist module and ECM. I know you said you have spark, but it could be something else related. Also, if you have spark at the right time and no fuel pressure, you should be able to use starting fluid to substitute. I don't suppose you have dual tanks and the switching valve is the problem ?
It won't die when pulling the relay because it has another power path to the fuel pump through the oil pressure switch . Fuel Pump Electrical Circuits Description and Operation watch this video on fuel pump control , shows chrysler first , ford ,then gm . wait for gm an he explains the oil pressure switch . Plus when it won't start ,don't guess or theorize ! Test what's missing ? check for spark , no spark check ignition system , coil's , ignition module , crank sensor etc... has spark ,do a fuel pressure test etc... don't think computer , when it won't start does the check engine light come on with the key on run not start . If light is lit ,nothing wrong with the cumputer . If want to fix cars you really should take some automotive classes . Test don't guess .Watch some other videos crank no start videos etc...
Hello your fuel pump is probably not working here is how we can check sit in the car turn key to on position if you do not hear a grunt grrr sound your fuel pump is not working. No spark your computer will shut of the spark if you fuel is not being supplied or pumped to the engine.Solution have your fuel pump replaced.r
Could be fuel filter, fuel pump, air filter, coil, spark plugs, plugged catalitic converter, injectors or a host of other things. Start with the simple things like air filter, see if its dirty, then fuel filter especially if it has not been changed for many miles. Check battery connections, ground wires from body to motor and ground wire from battery to motor and body
first thing is to check for fuel, if you spary starting fluid in throtlebody will it start?. if it does then its mostlikly a fuel pump, if not then the next thing is to check for spark, remove a plug wire and spin engine does it spark, yes then it a fuel problem, if no then may be a crank sensor or a coil or module, but most of these have bad fuelpumps so start with the fuel test. hope this helps.
