Question about 2001 Chrysler Sebring

2003 Sebring AC

2003 LXI sebring ac blows hot, I can hear the compressor kick on when I turn on the ac. It all started after I recharged the system with the little home charge kits that come with the bottle and hose from walmart, could it be an overcharge that is causing it to blow hot?

Are you sure that when you charged the system that it was actually taking the refrigerant into the system. Some of the kits come with a gauge attached to them so you can see right away if it is either undercharged or overcharged. I would suggest purchasing one of these cans with the gauge attached (I found that my local Biglots store is the cheapest) and hook it up then you can see right away if it's over or undercharged. If everything seems ok check your fuses and relays.Good luck

When I turn on my air conditioner in my 2004 Chrysler Sebring 2.7L it blows cold air until the car has been running for 10 plus minutes and then air blows hot and the RPMs go up and down drastically.

A mechanic would check for voltage at the ac compressor and the freon charge when the ac stops working.
If the compressor is cutting on and off the idle speed will change.

A/C stopped working and blowing hot air. Is there a fuse to check?

In almost every case, when hot air blows while AC is turned on, it's an indication the system is low on refrigerant. This could be due to a leak in the system. There are do-it-yourself kits sold at most auto parts stores or a qualified service station can recharge your system (they have to check for leaks prior to recharging the system).

If you can hear the compressor kicking on and are still getting hot air, check coolant level. If coolant level is good and compressor is kicking on, you may need to change out your thermostat.

AC blowing only hot air. How can I tell if it is the comprosser and just needs recharged?

When the engine is running, turn the AC on and watch the tachometer if you see the RPMs dip slightly then the compressor is kicking on. You should also be able to hear a new sound coming from the engine (do this with the hood lifted).

If you hear it come on and see the RPMs dip slightly, then the compressor is probably still good and it just needs to be re-charged.

2003 Kia Sedona, had ac problem last year replaced compressor, dryer, and now TXV valve, recharged system with approx 35 oz and have 135 psi in the system and the compressor will not kick on?????

You have too much pressure on the system. When the AC is on there should only be around 50 psi on the low side. Otherwise your taking a chance on blowing the seals or blowing the compressor. with that much on the system already I would hope the safety switch has kicked in a disabled the compressor so it doesn't blow your lines.

I have a 2004 2.7 6 chrysler sebring lxi. ac blows really cold and periodically just starts blowing warm air. is there a relay or temp. sensor that might be going out and through a malfunction shuts down...

Cooling fans working? If you notice the air getting warm mostly while stopped, probaby cooling fans not turning on. if the fans are working properly, may be low on freon and need a recharge.

I would suggest to check the evaporator, normally found underneath the glove compartment. Check out the coils and the fan. While you are at it you can do some cleaning and see if it helps.

AC SOMETIMES COOLS

It is possible that the AC compressor clutch cycling is getting stuck in the off mode, this can be caused by a sticking expansion valve or a defective AC clutch control relay. One note u said u added more refrigerant to the system, if u over charged it you may cause damage to the compressor a $400 part and equal labor to replace, it might be a good idea to have the system charge checked by a shop that does AC work.
