For testing only it should work, but to get all the performance your 2005 engine offers, use Autolite HT0 sparkplugs
Be very careful removing the stock plug. Other are reporting that they break off easily and the heads might have to come off to get the broken pieces out. $$$$$$$$$

Be careful !!!

Good Luck

I have a 96 mustang with the 3.8 engine it will turn over but won't start it had a lot of gas in the oil when I bought the car eney ideal as to what can be wrong

I know you said you had spark to one plug but it sure sounds like a spark issue - especially since there was fuel in the oil. I'd re-check spark at the coil and all the plugs. Remember you only need fuel, air and spark for the engine to run. A tune up won't hurt either.

I dont know in what order my spark plug wires hooked up.

Chec here the MUSTANG FIRING ORDER

Below are the firing orders for 5.0L, 4.6L, 3.8L, and 2.3L late model Mustangs. Remember to be very careful when checking your firing order because the ignition system on your car runs on very high voltage. Do not remove spark plug wires from the distributor or spark plugs while the engine is running.
Firing order sequences:
V8's 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
V6's 1-4-2-5-3-6
2.3L 1-3-4-2

take one of the spark plugs out and turn the engine till that cillinder reaches full decomprecion and using a funnel put about 1/2 a quart of oil in there put the spark plug back in and turn the engine manually till that cillinder reaches compression when your done remove the spark plug and rotate the pistons a couple of times and the oil will come out this works i just did it on my 05
p.s. there will be a little smoke when you first start your engine from the last of the oil getting burnt out
