Would be a very good idea to save you costly repairs later. look for the type that bypasses the cooler when the temperature is not as high. the transmission fuild needs to be able to reach it's operating temperature to fuction properly.

Can I flat tow a 2001 Ford Taurus car behind my RV

If it is a stick shift this may be fine, but if an automatic, the transmission may require that you run a transmission cooler while you are towing. I'm not really sure about how your Ford is set up though, so please seek more advice than mine. I just know there can be issues on FWD cars with automatics.

Is transmission cooler factory installed or an aftermarket purchase?

if it has a factory tow package usually it already has a trans cooler installed it will be located in front of the radiator/ a/c condenser , if not there not that difficult to install

Why does my acura rdx have transmission oil cooler infront of radiator then the cooler line comes out and goes into radiator then from radiator into transmission?

The transmission cooler, out front, is the secondary cooler. These are usually added for the towing packages. Heat in an automatic transmission is it's worst enemy. The cooler the better.

Is there a transmission cooler on the '96?

All with automatic transmissions have a cooler inside the radiator. If you have a tow package you should also have an additional one installed on the front of the a/c condenser.

I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8 L eng with an automatic transmission. I noticed that sometimes the transmission will disengage. I put it back in park then drive and it goes as normal. Today I found...

Most automatic transmissions will have a cooler that is in the radiator. Some will also have an external cooler (really common on vehicles with a towing package). It is really common for the cooler hoses to leak on the caravans. Make sure you are using ATF+4 for trans fluid. No other transmission fluid should be used in a chrysler!

2002 Jeep Liberty Radiator/trans cooler

If you want to install another cooler, you will have to put it in-line either bofre or after the radiator. I have a liberty as well, and have done much towing, and have never had the need for an additional trans cooler.

I have a leak of my tranny fluid and I think its from my transmission cooling lines, radiator or the cooler. Should I install an auxilary cooler for the transmission ?

Most cooler manufactures and automobile manufactures information we have read, recommends installing the coolers In-Series with the factory radiator cooler for maxium cooling efficiency.

If you must bypass the radiator because the cooler tube is leaking or for other reasons, be sure to increase the size cooler you install by 1 to 2 sizes.

It is not necessary but will help in the long run. Expecially if you are towing or do alot of driving.

Automatic transmission lines

Hi!
The two lines from the transmission is the cooler lines, one is the inlet and the other the outlet.
If the rad and cooler stand vertically then the out line from the transmisson must connected to the top so that the transmission fluid can be cooled and returned to the transmission.
