Hello.

so from what i understand, you say when you move the selector from park to reverse or park to drive the car feels as though it lunges, or you can feel the car move into a loaded position forcefully, while watching the engine and transmission shift.

if that is correct, than you could have an engine performance issue, an internal transmission malfunction or simply failed engine and/or transmission mounts,

NOT an issue with your rack and pinion.

You have engine mounts and trans mount. Have all checked. If one is broken, the engine will ground out on the body and you will feel it. I doubt the steering rack is causing any problem.
How are the cv joints and half shafts?

call a dealer for a price on the trans mount and call an independent repair shop for the same estimate. Then take it in to have the noise checked to see if it is the mount. Is engine idling too fast so that it bangs into gear?

Honestly? I would go with the mount fiorst. It is the cheapest and sometimes fixes the rumbling problem or shifting due to loose transmission mounts.

AAMCO will look at it for free and will not remove anything without talking to you first.

Aside from a mechanical issue, or incorrect fluid level, you may want to consider having the transmission flushed. The fluid gets tired and dirty over time and will decrease transmission performance. The fluid should be red in color. If its brownish or almost black its time to have it changed.
There are lots of things that can affect the engine and transmission. Mainly: Air Filter, Engine Oil and Oil Filter, Plugs and Plug Wires, Transmission Fluid, and the Fuel Filter. If you dont know how old these items are, or if they are the originals I recommend you replace them. Any of these alone can contribute to the issue you mentioned.

When I am driving, it accelerates by itself and no cruise control

We have a 1998 Ford Taurus that does the same exact thing. It mysteriously seems to do this randomly. We have an intermittent code for the camshaft sensor which I replaced. But, this didn't solve the problem.

I think it's a design flaw.

I am a ford tech and once this transmission starts slipping in OD u are going to need an overhaul, changing the fluid won't correct the problem.

As for obtaining the dipstick. You might try Napa. If not Napa, then a Ford Dealer. I doubt the dip stick is the end of your troubles here, though.
