Question about 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser

1 Answer

2006 pt cruiser, dash lights and tail lights don't work

MY TAIL LIGHT AND BREAK LIGHT BULBS ARE ALL OK, BUT THE TAILLIGHTS AREN'T LIGHTING UP. I CHECKED THE FUSE BOX AND THE ONE THE MANUAL SAYS BELONGS TO THE REAR TAIL LIGHT IS ALSO OK. MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS ALL WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME THE TAIL LIGHTS WENT OUT. OVERHEAD LIGHTS ARE OK, AND WHEN I PRESS THE WARNING LIGHTS, THEY ARE OK, WHICH IS THE SAME BULB AS THE TAILLIGHT, BUT THE TAILLIGHT DOES NOT LIGHT UP WHEN TURNED ON. CAN YOU HELP WITH ANY SUGGESTIONS?

No I changed both of those already just can't figure out why my tail lights won't turn on and my dash lights won't turn on also. My Brake lights work and turning lights work too.

I have replaced both circuit boards for rear tail lamps. I have verified that all of the fuses are good. Yet, I still have no taillights or dashboard lights. I do have signal lights, brake lights and...

You only need to change the tail light fuse if it is blown. If you haven't checked it already, do that. Those stop/tail bulbs are 2 filament bulbs. One filament is for brake lights, and other filament is for the tail lights. So it is possible to have brake lights and no tails, if the filaments for the tail lights are burned out. But of course, it is unlikely that all the tail lights would be out and all the brake lights still work.

You may need a voltmeter to help solve the problem. It could be a problem in the headlight switch (a problem with the park light function), but is more likely a problem with the Lighting Control Module- or the Body Control Module-whichever your car is equipped with. GM first came out with the LCM, and a year or two later came out with the BCM. Both are mini-computers to control lighting and cabin functions. You would have to use a voltmeter and check things like power in and power out at the BCM of the park lights. You would thus need a wiring diagram to go along with the voltmeter. Those modules are located up under the dash-you can use google to see pictures of them, and maybe find locations.

My taillights and rear parking and tag lights dont work but the front parking lights do

Are your dash lights out also? The tail and dash lights are wired on the same circuit and share the same fuse.If your dash lights are working then check the tail light bulbs, I know that it is rare but I have been fooled more than once by both bulbs being blown.
