Check the camshaft position sensor, it might have gone bad. My 2000 neon did the same thing. I changed this part and she's ran fine ever since.

I have a 99 Pontiac grand am v6 3400. While driving I have lose of power when accelerator from 35 mph to 50 mph what would cause this

If it is up hills only then you have an underpowered engine that can not accelerate in third gear like the junky little Corolla E110 and it's Chevrolet Prizm clone 120 HP on on 2400 pound car do but a 170 HP V6 on a 3000 lb should have more power then that. In any case it is because you are in third gear and first and second gear have enough torque to accelerate properly.

It is the feature I hate the most on smaller engine cars.

1996 Pontiac Firebird 2nd gear start switch

Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

When do u change or adjust the timing chain on a 2006 Acura tsx? My car has been having trouble starting this week and this morning wouldn't start at all and when I do try to start it , the motor turns...

Timing gears and chains don't make a lot of starting difference, usually all or none unless they skip a few teeth when really bad. Give it a jump to boost the battery to see if its is losing power there. If it is turning over as fast as usual without a jump, but NOT for the first 2 or 3 seconds, perhaps water is seeping into a cylinder, (head gasket leak) then let it warm up for a minute and pull the plugs to check for steam with a mirror in front of each spark plug hole. Steam indicates water is getting in there. Water will prevent an engine from spinning as it doesn't compress well.

I own a 1982 Volvo 245 DL. Two months ago I replaced the timing belt because it had broken. A few days after getting it back, it started to lose all power in third gear and start jumping momentarily. i...

first, change the air filter(should be changed EVERY 2 years)then use redexe/wynns injector cleaner (1 can to 1/2 tank) volvo's dont like dirty fuel AT ALL.after doing the above if the problem still shows get it on an exhaust anilyzer, that will tell you how healthy your engine is......also,very important with volvo, check the hose from the inlet manifold to the brake vacuum tank,if it looks "old"change it (also cheap)

Sounds like third gear is gone, You will have to see a dealer or trans shop for that on.

Transmission issue

You need to have the transmission flushed and have new fluid put in. As oil warms up, especially old oil. It loses viscosity and will not lubricate the gears as it should.
