If your battery wont hold charge then your battery is probaby time to retire. I bet your battery is old or has been discharge completely. Regular auto non-deep cycle lead acid battery will be damage by overcharging, or completely discharge. It will not go back to 100% and each year or month the efficiency will decrease and decrease until the point it cannot hold charge. There is an alternator in your car that charges the battery as well as supply electical current for your igntion system. Once your batter is jump start and your alternator is doing it's job by charging the battery and running your coil. If you park overnight i bet your battery will go flat ( if your weather is cold , your battery will go even flatter. I recommended you to replace battery, if you are a careless guy who does not unplug the battery terminals if your car is park for more than 2 weeks. I suggest you to purcharse a battery that will give you 3 years warrantee , within that 3 years anything wrong you simply replace it for free. Cheers

Sounds like the electrolyte levels in your battery are extremely low which will cause it to not hold a charge except over the day when the alternator is constantly recharging it, ask a mechanic to either top it up or buy a new battery

Alternator not charging battery on Lexus gs300-1998.No battery signal. All other warning signals appeared. Car started right up after a jump, cut back off less than 500 feet away. What can it be?

1. Remove the battery and put it on a charger overnight, see if it holds a charge. If not repair the battery.
2. If the battery holds a charge, replace or repair the alternator' Good chance the brushes need replacing.

My Honda Accord wont start even with a jump. The lights come on but wont turn over. No click, no sound, no nothing

IT's those short drives that burn down a battery! The starting of an engine requires mucho electric to get it running. The alternator then charges the battery, but slowly! If you also have the lights and stereo on it is even slower. Get the battery FULLY charged with a commercial battery charger. Then check to see if the alternator is charging up the battery after you start it. If not, replace the alternator. If the battery dies overnight or in a few days...replace the battery.

Hi my car wont start, after i get a jump it will run that hold day then the next morning nothing will come on no lights anything

your charging system is working okay or you would have to have it jumped more than once a day.you have a bad battery that needs replacing as running it during the day the charging system keeps the battery charged up enough to work.you could have a drain on the battery from something in the car that is not shutting down that you will have to have checked out.or sitting over night the battery runs down to the point that it needs to be jumped started if its an old battery(over5-6years).

Battery runs down when it's parked, any idea?

Hi!!

Batteries over time loose capacity to hold charge. You can jump start the vehicle in the morning and run around all day, but the next morning it won't have enough charge to start up.

Take vehicle to an AutoZone to have charging system and battery checked up at no charge. There are other autopart stores that also offer this free service to their customers..

New battery going flatafter draining it by accident overnight. jump started it, drove home, but battery flat again after a day or two.

battery needs a deep charge from a battery charger.if you drain battery to low the alternator cannot supply enough charge to bring battery up to full charge.

Battery is dead 2004 nissan frontier v6

Check the alternator and battery clemmas/wires coming from alternator. It looks like no charge from it coming to battery. If it is second battery already this is the sign. You can do it free of charge at autozone store. But any way as a temporary solution you can buy battery charger ($25 walmart) and charge the battery back if battery is damaged you will see it right away (it wont be charging). After you charge battery back start the engine run it for 30 minutes (if Alternator OK it is enough to charge battery back), stop and start again. If no start alternator is a problem.
Good Luck

Electrical Problem with 1999 Subaru Legacy

hi there, your alternator is not putting out enough, subbies should put out about 14.4v and just after starting should put out 40-60amps. charge the batt that is in it now with a small (3.5-6amp) charger overnight then start the car and LOAD TEST the batt and alternator at a battery shop. ask them to put a carbon pile load tester on your system. im pretty sure they're gonna tell you its the alternator. many thanks, hope this helps!
