1989 Chevy bertta gt fan isn't working can I install toggle switch

Well yes and no.
Yes you can install a switch, but you need to run the fan from a relay instead of thru the switch. Most switches aren't tough enough to handle the load.
It would be just as easy to run the fan from a relay and connect it to something that is hot when the key is on. Or hook the fan relay you have now to something hot with the key on.

The fan to the motor is not working

My friend had a geo metro and his radiator fan stopped working due to a wiring problem and he had to run a toggle switch to it and then it worked fine. Try hooking a live wire to the battery to the fan and see if it comes on and if it does just hook it up with a toggle switch.

I am trying to replace the coolant fan switch in my 1997 honda cr

if this engine is overheating while u are driving then the fan is not the problem, if it gets overheated at idle or under 10 MPH then there is a POSSIBLE cooling fan issue, let me ask u this, does the fan come on when the AC is switched on? open the hook and turn the AC on the fan will come on and go off in cycles each time the pressure builds in the AC system, if the fan does this you have no problem with the fan and need to have other checks made such as the thermostat not fully opening or a clogged radiator or leaking head gasket. Let me know and will help further,

I asked around and installed an electric fan with wiring because my old factory fan broke. The fan had one blue and one black 16G braided wire coming directly from the fan. I attached the black (ground) to...

A 96 GC should have a regular belt driven fan. 16 ga wires are not big enough to power any type of fan motor, Are you sure they are not 14ga?. If the factory fan broke, just replace it. Try hooking the wires directly to the battery, make sure it spins the right direction, if not, reverse the wires but make sure the fan is on the right way, you may need to flip it over. The fan should be hooked to a thermostat, you dont need the fan spinning 100% of the time.

The fan is not kicking on and water will not circulate from the overflow reserve?water often pours out of the radiator and the temp gauge goes to red very quickly/ is this the thermostat or something else?

If the fan is not kicking on I would check the fan by turning on the a/c. If still no fan try hooking it up to a battery (be carefully with the blades). If the fan spins then its an electricle problem, relay, fuse or thermostat switch.

HOOK UP MANUAL ELEC FAN SWITCH TO DASH

theres two was you can do this. First is to go and get a universal electric fan controler form your local auto parts store there about $30 and the come with instructions its realy easy to do. It will turn the fans on/off only when needed. Second way is to just find the positive and negitive wires fom the fan and hook the positive directly to power with a fuse in line. next hook up a on/off switch inline with the negitive wire fron the fan to one terminal on the switch and then a wire from the other terminal to a good ground. then run the wires thought the fire wall and find a where you want to mount it. the down side is you have to rember to turn on the fan when your driving.

Radiator fan stays on all the time and car runs rough

The fan relay may be malfunctioning (the fan relay is what actually switches the fan on and off and gets its signal from the ECM, which in turn gets its signal from the temp sensor) testing/replacing the relay and temp sensor would be the best thing to start with,... unless you notice any additional (non factory) wire attached to the power wires to the fan.  Sometimes folks, in an attmpt to fix  an overheating or fan relay problem, attach a ignition switched positive lead from the fusebox or other switched source to the positive poer lead on the fan,.. making the fan run whenever the ignition is switched on.
