Question about 1997 Ford Explorer AWD

1 Answer

I had the timing belt replaced in my 95 toyota 4runner and the check engine light came on every since. The shop said nothing was wrong with the repair they did. The dealership I eventually took it to said they didnt get the harmonic balancer pulley installed correctly which resulted in scoring on crankshaft and timing was off for awhile. Would this cause overheating and damage to head gasket?

Absolutley, and engine firing either premeturely or late can cause damage.

sounds like you have all the proof you need. Just get the dealership shop manager to verify it was installed incorrectly. Maybe even get a written statement from them. Carry the letter from the dealership to the shop that did the faulty work and threaten legal action unless they make the repairs.

My 95 Toyota 4runner looses power and the check engine light comes on after I first start the engine and it shifts into 2nd.

The check engine light is the cpu telling you that there is a fault in the parameters of the sensors it continually monitors. Have a fault code reading done and replace the faulty sensors

I have a 95 toyota 4runner v6 I replaced the head gasket, timing belt,my timings marks are were supposed to be reset my timing with a timing ligth to 10 btdc ,when it's in neutral it's revs to 5000...

I believe you are on the right track. Sure sounds like a timing issue to me. Lack of power with no back fire. You may have to get online or get a manual to verify your timing marks are in fact correct.

95 4runner 3.0 sputters & shuts off

You have a plugged catalitic converter restricting exhaust flow. Call around to muffler shops and price around and replace.
