Question about 1999 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

The driver's window is stuck in an open position. What is the best way to try to fix it? I tried taking the door panel apart, but I didn't want to force it where it was attached at the door handle. Any suggestions?

Just see if you can force the window up then tape it there.

Driver rear door stuck closed on 2002 Santa Fe Hyundai. Any ideas on how to fix it?

It's usually the lock that is stuck in lock position.Roll down the window, grab a rubber hammer and as you reach inside and unlock the door,HIT THE DOOR at the locking area with the rubber hammer. Now try to open the door.It may take a few tries but works to open doors 90% of the time.DO NOT lock this door until you have lubed the internal locking mechanical parts and are sure they work.

2007 pontiac G5 door assembly

The lock may be stuck in locked position in the latch assembly.
Roll the window down, reach inside the door and move the lock button to unlock JUST as you give the door a severe whack with a rubber hammer at the outside door edge 1/2 way down the door at the door latch area.
It may take more than one try to unlock the door,if that's what is wrong, but usually is.

Cannot open rear drivers side door from outside or inside. door panel is off, door is closed. child lock is on. tried pulling cable, wont move. tried lifting up the child lock with a thin blade

Sounds like the lock mechanism is stuck on the locked position. Since you didn't specify make and model this is a best guess. Make sure the lock is in the unlock position and try manipulating the rod connected to the outside handle (since child lock is on the inside handle won't work)

Rear driver side lock stuck in the unlocked position.

The servo motor in the door lock may have failed, broke, or disconnected. An Authorized Chevy Dealer should be able to check it.

1998 ford taurus driver window won't go up, I got it up then I hit the inside door panel to get it in place now the window is stuck down again, what doI do?

First, Push the window button that corresponds with the window that is stuck. Slam the door. Jostles the bushings that probably have dried up grease. Then window begins to work again. Second, try taking off the door panel. Once the door panel is off, connect a test light to the harness side of the connector and try the switch in both positions. If it lights up in both switch positions, circuit to motor is fine, and motor is the problem. Sometimes the motors can be fixed, sometimes not.

Passenger side window stuck in down position

Volcompunker is on track.... if it is a stuck motor problem, before taking door apart, try this...it may work, works well on dodge caravans...

NO COST and fast PROCEDURE TO FIX IT:

1. Sit in vehicle, on seat next to problematic window
2. Ignition key is on
3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it)
4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !!
5. SLAM hard the door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4.
6. Watch window operate as it should.

7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!

'88 toyota camry rear window stuck in down position

To get to the Window:

Remove Door Inside Handle:
remove screw, slide the handle forward.
Disconnect the control link and remove the handle.

Remove Door Trim with Inner WeatherStrip:
Remove the two screws from the armrest.
Insert a screwdriver between the trim retainers and the door panel to pry it loose.  Eight hidden fasteners. 1 top left side of door.
1 right side about same height as top of armrest. 1 (each side) about same height as bottom of armrest. 1 on each corner bottom. 1 bottom in middle.  1 on left side between bottom corner and the previous at about lower armrest height...

Remove Service Hole cover.
Remove Door Glass Run.

Remove Division Bar (upper window section divider):
Remove the two screws under the weatherstrip
Remove the bolt.
Pull out the division bar.

Remove the Window Glass:
Place the glass in the door cavity.
Remove the two glass channel mounting bolts.
Remove the window glass by pulling it upwards.

You now have access to the Power Window Regulator; possible replacement of motor etc.

What type of 'things' have you tried for fixing the window and restoring operation?

All windows will not go up or down

Check the wire in the rubber boot by the driver side door hinge....shake it around while trying to lower a window ..sometimes a wire gets cut right there!!! If so , you'll just have to mend the split in the wire ...

Rear windows

yes. unless you want to try replacing the driver side switch first which can be pricey. all the windows run on one circuit which is started by the drivers side switch if this switch goes bad windows will not work. if the switch isn't the problem the motors are and fro this the panels will have to come off and the job itself is not fun.
