I had this same problem with my A/C and went to about 10 different mechanics and called even more until I found one place that specializes in A/C...they took a look at it, and i do need a new Compressor but they usually run about 200-500$ depending on where you are. Their pricing is 572$ including the workmanship, the compressor, and other parts as well. So I suggest calling around to local shops and other shops outside of your city and see what they charge, and then take a look at places like JC Whitney as well as stores on eBay, and even direct from the manufacturer pricing. I actually found one on eBay for 119$ for a rebuilt one. Just shop around and you will find a deal.

The cheapest way is to buy compressor at autozone.get a private garage to put in in pump it down to check for leaks .then charge it up.the compressor is expensive its run $500.00 or more.cheaper to buy it your self.dealership will charge you $1200.00 or more if they find more problems.besure you get a good mechanic thats pretty reasonable.

My boyfriend is fixing my 1999 dodge durango ac heater blower can you splice the wires to the new blower

There is no need to splice anything

You buy the correct replacement part
& plug it in

How could he possibly work on any vehicle
& then not know about splicing, soldering, etc,
if that ever came up

If someone butchered the vehicles wiring, return it
to as built factory condition, that may require some
salvage yard wiring connector & splicing, as you call it

Buy a whole new clutch for about $200. You need a special puller to remove the old one if you intend to refurbish it. It's not worth the effort. Just remove the clips and knock the old one off with a hammer. Chuck it away and replace with a brand new clutch assembly.
