Car over heating because thermostat faulty its stuck closed not opening allowing coolant flow from engine to radiator.hot climate need 50/50 antifreeze and water.straight water will boil away at 212 degrees. engine can get hot as 225 degrees you need add coolant to raise engine coolant boiling point temperature.

The rad fan is required to keep your engine at a normal operating temp. When you are going at hiway speeds the fan is not needed. When you stop then the fan has to operate to keep the engine cool.If the fan is not operating, it could be the fuse or fan relay or temp sensor or computer This problem should be checked by someone who is a professional..

you've answered your own question! You're cooling system has leaks possibly from your rad. You should have no leaks whatsoever.
I would also look to see if you have leaks anywhere else. Look under the car on the passenger side - see if you have leaks from the water pump. I would go to a radiator
repair shop. They will flush the system and check for leaks.
I wouldn't hang around or else you will damage your engine AND transmission. Which will be more money down the line.

Check for coolant flow at the Purge line,this is a common problem on the Northstar.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank,this is the purge line.
With
the engine idling,pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no
coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause
overheating.If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.

Hello: Open hood, stand in front of car look on left side (driver side) of engine toward the radiator, there will be a black metal guard, under the guard there will be a small belt. This is the belt that drives the water pump. Make sure the belt is there. If belt is there start car and with engine running check to be sure belt is turning and that the water pump is turning. If all that is okay then you may have blown head gaskets. To check head gaskets you need a sniffer tool to smell the engine coolant which will tell you if you have exhaust gas in the coolant.
