My car has delco 16186806 radio&cassette and I want to replace it with Delco 16166166 radio&cd, would it work

the connections are the same with two sockets with 9 and 7 pin, but I have heard that new system needs speakers with built in amps. My cars speakers are ordinary cadillac factory speakers. Would the newer system work ?

Yes, it is fine. You can replace old version music system to new delco 16166166 radio and cd. It works fine but yes it would be better to take your car at service centre for replacement instead of doing yourself.

Try Doctor Don's. He is an AC Delco expert who can repair a lot of AC Delco radios. He put some new amps into my Radio/CD player for my 1990 Cadillac Deville so it would play in my AC Delco Radio's place. He really knows what he is doing when it comes to radios.

www.doctordons.com is his website.

Good luck on this repair.

2004 truck delco radio 5 disc cd player. cd

Common for the CD to get stuck on the Delco radio, Try resetting the radio by disconnecting the battery for 5 min and then reinstalling the cables. This will reset the radio and you should get your CD to work again, if there is an issue. You going to have to go to the dealer and they are going to have to use a Tech2 scanner to reset and reprogram the radio. If there is any mechanical issues the Tech2 scanner will identify the issues, but 90% of the time. It's just a simple reset and the other 10% is a reprogram or replacing the unit.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

Olds Cutlass factory radio/cassette, radio doesn't work.

When you say tried different radio and it didn't work, does this mean the tuner acts like it is functioning, but you hear nothing out of the speakers?

If so, this stinks of a bad ANTENNA...
