They may be dual element bulbs. the element used for the tail lights is ok but the brake light element is burnt. change both bulbs.

SOURCE: Brake lights on rear tail

It sounds like you have to replace a "Relay" in your fuse box. This would be the large grey rectangular looking thing...I believe its the 2nd one closest to you from left to right...try changing it and see if you have your 3rd brake light back again. Good luck.

SOURCE: Brake lights not working

Having the sa but haven't replaces the brake switch. The owner's manual for my 99 accord indicates the the fuse is located behind a panel that is viewable when you open the door on the driver's side. There is a panel that you remove (pull off) to expose the fuses. The brake light fuse is the third one from the top on the left. 7.5 A

SOURCE: 96 monte carlo rear window brake light works but

are the bulbs good. do these use the same bulbs for brake/turn signals?. if the high mount light was working, then the brake light switch was good. brake light power goes through the turn signal switch. you will need to get a wiring diagram and verify the power is going in and coming out of turn signal switch.

SOURCE: 95' Buick regal, 3rd brake light works, tail

I dont have a diagram but the brake light switch has to feed the turn signal switch, Either that wire has a bad connection, or the turn signal switch is bad. Jiggle the turn signal lever and see if the brake lights try to work.

1997 Chevy Lumina REAR BRAKE LIGHTS DONT WORK

This will either be a fuse or the brake light switch which is on the pedal it's self. More likely the switch as these are fickle at best.

Brake lights not working at tail lights but the light in the rear window does come on when brake pedal is pushed.....regular tail lights come on...right and left turn signals also work ....flashers...

the upper brake light works differently than the outer lights. check your brake light switch by the brake pedal. It will have a plunger switch on it. The center brake lamp works off a power convertor instead off the brake light switch. The switch has a separate wire for that which is still working

Tail break lights don't work. Window break light does work however. Bulbs have been replaced.

Check the brake light fuse. The high mounted brake light (third brake light) is on a different circuit than the brake lights. Hope this helps.

Rear brake lights don't work

There is only one brake light switch. There should be a wiring harness connector somwhere in the back of the car. Follow the wires from the tail lights until you get to this connector. Take it apart and clean the terminals and reassembl. If this does not do it, move further up the harness until you next connector, do the same thing.

Good luck
