1999 eddie bauer expedition 4x4 5.4L low fuel light came on I came to a stop and the engine died. I thought it was out of gas put some in no good. I cannot hear the fuel pump noise either.

Is the anti-theft dash light on and steady red? Ford PATS is complex and you may need a mobile auto-electrician or mobile auto locksmith / alarm installer.

Sounds like anti-theft system problem ! There is a little red light center top of dash pad , When you try to start the vehicle does the light flash fast ? If the vehicle thinks it's being stolen it won't let truck crank over an it turns off the fuel injectors !

It's on the side of the transmission under the drivers door. The shift cable runs to the control arm it is under.

Is the check engine light on ? Have you checked fuel pressure ?

There could be many reasons for it stalling out at lights. The first things I would check is the battery and alternator. The auto parts stores will check both for free.

are you getting any jerks/shutter while driving??If so, try replacing all 8 coils. They're pricey ($28-65 each), I have an 03 Expedition FX4 w/5.4L and it used to ****/shutter around 50-65mph and then just die. Restarts and its fine, then dies randomly again!! Replaced all spark plugs, all 8 coils runs great!!

The 99 expedition comes with a 26 gal tank as standard equip. and there is an optional 30 gal available. I suspect the gas pump you used is not accurate, and needs to be recalibrated. I think it's just a coincidence that the gauge is acting up now. Hopefully I'm wrong, and by some miracle you actually are now getting 300 miles on a half tank of gas! You may have a bad sending unit, this would result in inaccurate fuel tank readings.
