Question about 1994 Lexus GS 300

1 Answer

Inactivated trunk latch

Trunk latch has broke or become inactivated. I have used the little switch under the steering column, where I unlock this button and the remote latch function will work. however, i can try to close (slam) the trunk shut and it won't catch. The lock has become inactivated. Any troubleshooting tips?

Make sure the latch is not already latched shut causing it not to let you close it.

Replaced steering column complete with wiring, now truck will start but not continue to run.

The ignition circuit is activated when you put key in start position but inactivated when you have key in run. Check your wiring/connections.

I have a 2004 chevy cavalier and the trunk latch won't click into place and close fully, therefore the trunk won't close fully.

yes that could be the problem. try this putt your key in to the lock and turn it to unlock it , check to see if latch is open ,while still holding the key in the unlock position close the trunk and relock it with the key while pushing down on the hood at the same time. replace the lock when you can .there is no quick fix for this unless u use a bungee cord for it .

1999 bentley arnage. The trunk will not latch, cannot seem to see anything broken or sheared, but the trunk will not latch regardless

is latch already in closed position will not close see if you can insert key and turn to unlock
using a pick hook or scredriver to re open pawls in latch system
if all this is corect adjustment may be needed on latch system to catch

On my 2002 vw jetta the trunk will not open i have tried both the lever on side of door as well as the button on my key i have also crawled into the trunk from the backseat to use the emergency handle...

· There is no motor per say, (a servo that pulls the cable, youd should hear it, every time other then unlocking with key, or pulling inside emergency latch) the cable that connects to the trunk latch mechanism. There is a servo that opens the trunk when you unlock with key fob, or driver side activation. In the trunk pulling on emergency handle, it is pure cable action. One of the most reported problems is that a trunk will not close. In this instance the usual cause is a broke spring in trunk latch. In your case I am guessing that the cable has become detached from locking mechanism. I have not had this problem, however if I did, my first attempt would involve removing the trunk lid linker, there are about 8 or so screws (with felt on them so they are not so noticeable), remove all screws, liner should almost fall off when all screws are removed. I then could inspect latch, manually unlock, then stand outside of care to fix problem: reattach cable, replace latch, replace cable, there may be some other alternatives depending on specific situation.

Can't find fuse box that is supposed to be located in the trunk.

The fuse box is under the steering wheel. There will be 2 or 3 screws to remove a large panel, (about 2 feet wide). The other box, (relay center), is next to the battery. First you have to release the little box on top of it. Do this by pushing a tab in the middle of the little box. Then pull the little box up. Now you can remove the oblong-shaped box to reveal the fuses/relays. Release tab is in the front.

Key stuck in ignition had to unhook battery to kill trunk shut can't get in trunk to open and hook battery back up

the ignition lock cylinder exploded in the housing and thats why the key is stuck, there is a little square panel under the steering column pop that off and push on the white knob and that will let the key turn and hopefully come out,,and then all ok,but you still need a new switch

there should be a little lock/unlock switch by the trunk latch...and one of your seats should fold down so you might have to crawl through there and unlock it
