well you cant just put refrigerant into a system. 1st you had a broken line . so the compressor probally pumped all its oil out and you lost the gas. 2 after such an incident you have to have the system evacuated to remove all the air out of the lines and system. if there is any air or moisture in there it will not run right due to freezing and without oil in there you will destry your pump . i suggest that you take it to a garage and get it evacuated be fore you proceed. then you can refill it. also on your vechile it should tell you how much goes in there like 1lb 6oz and there is an amount written on the can so go by that. putting more in there will do more harm then good and cause alot of headaches and sweating. good luck have a good day

SOURCE: 2002 pontiac grand prix gt AC only blows hot

i had same problem 2 years ago. the actuator door tube was snapped in half and i used acquarium tubing to splice together. The tube runs along the passenger front well well inside engine and meets under the battery carriage. I could not tell anything was wrong without removing the battery to get a closer look. works like a champ now.

Also: there is also an inline venturi filter that fits in the aluminum tubing on the compressor, it may be clogged. You will have to have the freon sucked out to replace the filter. Check back with me so I can help more if this doesnt solve your problem.

usually there is a window in the pipe to view inside. if you see clouds in the window when cooler is running this indicates low pressure of gas need top up and service for longer life.

I hope this was useful.

My 2006 320D BMW does not give suffient cooling when turning on the aircondition.

Open the hood and then turn on the ac. The electric auxiliary fan must come on. If that fan is not on( not the center belt driven fan but the small electric one) then that is the problem. replace it. If the fan comes on, check the freon pressure to make sure it is adequate.

AC not running in my 1998 Jeep Cherokee. Changed AC clutch compressor RELAY, freon level is good, temperature sending unit replaced along with cooling fan! Checked all fuses still good. Can't seem to...

Hello, You have two switches which work off the pressure of the Freon. Both of these switches cut off the power to the compressor. One is for HIGH pressure and the other is for LOW pressure. Check for power at the compressor clutch connector harness while the controls are set and the engine is running. You may have power and a bad clutch.

When you say that the Freon pressure is good, does that mean the pressure is within the proper range? Too much Freon will make the HIGH switch cut off power and too little will make the LOW pressure switch cut off power.

The ideal amount(ozs) of Freon is what is recommended by the Manufactuer and it will provide a moderate amount of pressure of about 35psi-40psi. You can borrow pressure gauges, called Manifold gauges to measure your system at autoparts stores with loaner programs.

The low pressure side of the system is the one you use to induce the Freon to go into an empty system. You can bypass this switch by taking off the connector and putting a "U" shaped jumper into the harness and the compressor clutch should get power to LOCK up all of the time.

You can take off the switch connector at the compressor clutch and then check for power when bypassing the HIGH pressure switch if the LOW pressure switch does not make the system get power. Only, really only bypass the HIGH pressure switch with the clutch connector disconnected. The HIGH switch is there to prevent damage to all of the components from seals to lines to every piece of Freon hardware in the car. Bypassing with the A/C clutch disconnected will allow you to know if power is getting to the compressor clutch.

Finally, you can get FREE wiring and fusebox diagrams through Autozone.com. Just sign and register to their site and then you can print the documents for yourself.

Good luck with this repair and I hope my solution helps you.

Need to know where is the location of switch to turn on the radiator fan

1995 Isuzu Rodeo is equipped with a belt driven fan with a viscous fan clutch for engine cooling. The electric fan is for A/C condensor cooling only. The condensor fan is switched on and off by the A/C fan relay, which is operated by the triple pressure switch located in the A/C line on the left side of the engine compartment.

DO NOT
attempt to replace the triple pressure switch without first using the proper equipment to evacuate and recover the freon in the A/C system. The A/C system is under high pressure and attempts to replace parts without discharging the system can result in serious injury.

Air conditioner in my 2004 volkwagon passat blows cool for a few minutes than blows warm. I had dyed ran through for leakes, recharged and filled with freon and that didn't seem to fix it. Help

You need to check and see if the cooling fan (electric) on the radiator is coming on. If this fan does not come on the high side pressure will go over 400psi and turn off the compressor until the press. drops. either the cooling fan motor is bad, the cooling fan relay or the fuse for the cooling fan relay. you can check the cooling fan by removing the cover of the power steering reservoir and pulling the wiring harness out from under the bracket. the fan has two wires in its connector, one red and one brown (there may be a tracer color on either one) these two wires are heavy gauge, like #10. unplug the harness and feed power to the connector on the fan side and see if its spins. If it works your problem is probably the fuse or relay. If it doesn't it may be seized or stuck or burned out. Reed, Aquidenck Motors

It is possible, but the only way to tell is to put gauges back on it,also,if the cooling fans are not coming on,it will cause this also.

Is engine temperature badly affect AC compressor prformance ?provided that i bought a new compressor since 9 months but now stop function despite adequate fereon

It should not affect the A/C compressor. The A/C coils are actually in front of the radiator so the A/C should cool regardless.

Here's what you want the system to do. You want the Freon to maintain a steady pressure when the A/C is on. There are 2 pressure cutoff switches. 1high, 1low pressure. The compressor will cutout when either switch is tripped. This means a moderate amount of Freon is supposed to be in the system to avoid tripping the switches.

At this point your dryer tank will frost or sweat, the lines from the tank will frost too. The Freon can remove the most heat in this condition.

You can loan tools from Autozone or Oreillys with a deposit. You need to measure the pressure in the system and have the car windows rolled down and air on high to make it perform. Also use the correct "oil charge", the compressor will fail without oil.

Your compressor will not start if the pressure is below the Low pressure minimum. You may want to change the LOW pressure switch. If the compressor does not start, check the fuse or add Freon. The compressor will not run if there is too much pressure. Measure and remove Freon to cancel the high pressure switch.

When you have your pressure right everything should work providing the system was properly prepped before the Freon was added. Final note, the manifold gauges show TEMPERATURE variables for installing Freon. In simple terms, Freon is a gas that expands and if you add it in Cold weather it will expand and have higher pressure and be overfilled in Hot weather.
